The museum is located at the historic Palace of Podestà of Torcello, former seat of the Burano Lace School from 1872 to 1970. Rare and precious pieces offer a complete overview of the history and artistry of the Venetian and lagoon’s laces, from its origins to the present day are on display, in a picturesque setting decorated in the typical colors of the island. The exhibition is accompanied by videos, illustrated explanations, and a number of other vintage items which frame the works and offer an easy and multidisciplinary understanding. During the opening hours of the museum you will also be able to see the work of the skilled lacemakers.

This museum is located on the island of Burano and we had admission through the our Venezia Unica Platinum pass. Whilst this museum was small in comparison to other museums it did not detract from its importance. It showed on how the lace industry developed...More

We bought a combined ticket for the museum which we were able to use later in the day to enter the glass museum on Murano as well. We really enjoyed this museum. We started by watching a video about the history of lacemaking and then...More

My wife and my daughter visited, they paid €5 and €3.50 (for students). They were out by 20 mins or so. They said it was ok, but nothing too special. Enough said.

We visited this Museum because it was covered by the Venice Museum Passes that we purchased. The museum is very small only about two rooms so there is not much to see.

Burano itself is a pretty island, but it takes about 40 minutes to get there. The lace museum is about two rooms with some old lace things. Unless lace is your big hobby or you are a specialist, it's not worth visiting. We spent there...More

This place is pretty small. The exhibits are of a high quality. What I enjoyed most was the video at the beginning of the museum, going over the history of the women who went to the lace school on the island.

Just a small museum but interesting. If we had not had a museum pass we would not have taken a look. I learnt about lace making which was good I suppose.

Today we visited this island because we wanted to come here. It was a very rainy day. We came in the door and from the moment we walked in the man behind the counter treated us terribly because of the communication barrier. To expect tourists...More
