We are very thankful for this great experience. Vivi is a very kind person with a unique personality. She took a lot of time for us.

We cooking around 6 dishes. So tasty each!

Unbelievable is the price value. You won't get a better one in Crete.

The way from the coast is absolutely worth it!!

We all love to eat and try new food in our family - and had been searching for Cretan Cooking lessons near to our Villa in Kamilari. The reciews on here aren't wrong!! Our group ranged in age from 3 to 71!!! Vivi and her family make excellent hosts. The food is great , the cooking part wonderful. The amount to eat - enormous!! Couldnt say enough good things about this day! It was my fathers 71st birthday - and we even helped to make a cake for him - Cretan Style. The kids loved it - we all loved it... Excellent!!

Based on our wonderful meal at Vegera (the best we had in Crete!) and chatting with its delightful host/chef Vivi, I really wish we'd known about the chance to take cooking lessons at Vegera ahead of time. I'm sure the experience would be a lot of fun, with the results being excellent.

My boyfriend and I had the best time learning to cook Cretan recipes with the wonderful bubbly Vivi! It was the highlight of our holiday and I cannot recommend it more highly. We made more than 6 different dishes, both sweet and savoury- all were delicious. We got to try them all at the end with a well deserved glass of wine - perfect! We were sent away with lots of left overs which we had for dinner (with a sense of pride that we helped to make them!). Vivi was knowledgable, friendly and made the experience really fun.

I visited Zaros in Ocotber 2011, together with a group of Norwegian friends. Some days before we came to Zaro we made a deal with Vivi about coocing lesson on Taverna Vegera.

When we arrived to Zatos, we were met by Vivi, a very warm and hospitable person. She is the owner of the tavern.

The coocing lesson was amazing. We were divided into groups, in pairs. Each group had its own teacher, Vivi and two greek housewives, all very nice people. During the afternooen we made a lot of greek dishes, like gemista, pastitsio and spinach pies. The food was served to us, and to a group of workers who used to eat at the taverna. We all had a very pleasant evening. We paid only for the meal, not for the cooking lesson - amazing!

Next day Vivi took us to a local winery, and to a very special herb shop in the nice village of Kousses.

These to days were the hightligh of our vacation. We'll be back very soon!

A two-hour afternoon cooking lesson with Vivi and her mother taught me some of the secrets of Cretan cooking. I know I shouldn't give the secrets away but two have made my life so much easier ... and tastier. The first was not to cook the rice before stuffing Peppers, and how to make them really tasty without adding meat (lotsa herbs). The second is how to thicken the sauce in dishes (like Stuffed Cabbage Leaves) without using the butter/flour roux - that us non-gluten, non-dairy product eaters can't have.
I can only wish you that you make the best decision yet. Reminder: the lesson is free but if you want to have a meal, Vivi's very reasonable prices for meals apply! Bon appétit!

This is much more than a (free) cooking class. We checked with Vivi a few days beforehand and chose a day when she was not busy with a larger group - in fact, we were the only people on the course that day. So perhaps we got VIP treatment. To start with, she took us on a short tour of the town and met some of her neighbors - a charming experience. Zaros is incomparably more beautiful than most other places we visited in Crete - Hersonissos, Iraklion, and Rethymno. We learnt a lot about Greek cooking from Vivi and much enjoyed the meal - remarkable value for $30 including wine (we thought a good tip was appropriate).
