OK, it is clear from the information boards that it has been restored but that does not detract from the supremely impressive piece of architecture that it is. Seemingly one of the six best pieces of Roman work surviving and I don't doubt it. Well worth the trip to see it. Of course, if you don't like bits of old... More

The bridge was spectacular and it was amazing to wonder how the Romans had managed to build this bridge 2000 or so years ago. There was, however, the feeling that this was not quite the original and that it had been restored many times during or after the many wars fought over and around it. I agree that the scenery... Just the thought that the Romans built with a view to the future and how history has shown what a marvellous structure it is.

It is amazing that this bridge was built by the Romans and we cans still drive on it! Stop, get out and marvel at this structure. Stop and wonder if in 1,500 years someone else will be doing the same.

You can actually drive across the old Roman Bridge, which is worth doing to go and see the view of the lake above the dam. Look for the sign 'mirador'.
