Ponta Sahib is a very beautiful places .. It is generally known for Guru Sahib Gurudwara. It is situated in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh on the bank of River Yamuna.. The weather is serene over here and the grand Rivera hotel is also very good ,it provides all basic amenities which is essential for anyone..

If you are coming Paonta Sahib then must go to Gurdwara Sahib, you feel really relaxed. No 1 Gurdwara in himachal pradesh. Jamuna river is just back to the gurdwara. Also near to Hanuman Mandir.

It is located few km away from Dehradun on the banks of Yamuna river. You can go downstairs & see Yamuna river.
Guru Gobind Singh Ji reached Poanta Sahib in 1685 and spent four years here. It was here, the Dasam Granth was written by Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The Gurudwara also houses a museum which contains a lot of antiques and weapons used by Guru Gobind Singh during his stay.
Every evening the Sikhs would gather near Yamuna bank and hear the poets recite their compositions. One day at the assembly some poets complained that the river was very noisy and they found it hard to concentrate. At Guru Ji's request the waters of the river Yamuna fell silent. Even today the noisy waters of the river fall silent as it passes the gurdwara and then becomes noisy again down river.

A revered shrine of the Sikh religion, situated astride Yamuna River in Paonta Sahib, where the Tenth Master Guru Gobind Singh rested and meditated for about three years. The legend is that the gushing waters of Yamuna River made lots of noise and disturbed the Guru's meditation. The Guru ordered it to be Calm and the portion of the River flows calmly where the Gurudwara is situated. Entrance of the Gurudwara has several boutiques selling souvenirs of Sikh religion. After entering, the Shoe House is located where one can deposit one's shoes as one has to enter bare feet and head covered. On the right is the place where one can buy "Prasad" for offering which subsequently is distributed to the pilgrims visiting the place. Shri Guru Granth Sahib is kept on a high pedestal in the Hall where one pays one's obeisance. There is "Langar Hall" on the LHS of the Hall which serves hot meal to one and all 24X7. There are rooms to stay for those who wish to stay overnight. Gurudwara Sahib provides solace, tranquility and peace of mind.

The Gurudwara is built on the banks of Yamuna river in Sirmour district of Himachal Pradesh, and is on the Uttarakhand-Himachal border. This was my second visit to this beautiful Gurudwara - the first one being several years ago.
It has historical significance, as it is built in the memory of Guru Gobind Singh ji. He is believed to have spent quite some time on the banks of Yamuna and also wrote the Dasam Granth here.
The place is very peaceful. The Gurudwara has a large hall where the devotees can sit and listen to the shabads and the discourses. We had a good darshan and also sat there for quite some time, listening to the granthi speak about the history of the Gurudwara and its importance. Weapons and pens used by the Guru are also on display inside the main hall.
Within the complex, Guru Ka Langar is also served to all devotees throughout the day. Although the Gurudwara gets quite crowded with the devotees, the movement of people inside is peaceful and orderly, and it is a great feeling to just sit there and listen to the shabads.
A must visit, if you ever get to that part of Himachal, or even if you are visiting Dehradun, which is just about an hour away.
