Exciting exterior, mixed feeling about the interior

This palace strikes me as being the largest wooden palace in the world. While technically located in the Tamil Nadu state, its architecture is largely borrowed from the Kerala style. It felt like it should have been a major highlight, but I felt slightly disappointed when I went inside to discover that the interior is largely empty. Not much artefacts nor panels to narrate the history. I felt like overall it is still a nice place but not essential!

This palace has lived up to the saying “ Old is Gold” and looking at the architecture, it really gives you a sense of awe of how the Maharaja had lived his life having the luxury of his own. Seeing is believing

Worth a visit!

Very nice place to visit. The architecture is kerala style with very interesting pieces of European furniture and gifts.
The place could be lit a bit. Unfortunately, we were visiting during a cloudburst and the place was really dark.
Also, for seniors, there are difficulties in climbing up and down the steep stairs.
All in all a very good place to visit with family

Relaxing yet but frustrating

The visit to Padhmanabapuram palace was good with nice greenery and scenery …….. But the young security guards in the khakhi uniform were not good ; they were rude ; and they were calling at us by smacking their fingers which is a highly inappropriate way to behave with tourists……… they should be thought proper manners by the authorities………. The old security guards were kind and well behaved ; and the ladies who explained the exhibits were very good at their job

A trip to be with nature

If you are an art lover,then it is a must visit place. The beautiful carving on the wood and techniques used in it for ventilation and lightening are worth watching. Loved it.

Very old palace

We drive there and came back without seeing inside. Looked very old and maintained. There was no parking.

to expensive for foreigners

We didnt get in, for India people the entrance fee was 35 roepies, for foreigners like us 300!! roepies

Waste of Time

Crowded as hell. No sense of grandeur. You'll almost feel pity for the people that lived here if you look at the place. It is an absolute waste of time. The 'travels' and tour guides would try to sell this place, do not fall for it. Complete waste of time. Give this place a miss.
