Fantastic Natural beauty and a Good Road Trip. In a close proximity to Pune Panshet Dam is good Location for One day Picnic.
There are good eateries on the way which will serve lip smacking Kanda Bhaji and Vada Pav.
Go for it

we went to Panshet Dam camping with our 2 kids. The place has breathtaking scenery with amazing combination of dam water , mountains, greenery and clouds. But the overall camping experience was not good. Firstly the camping place is small and it's overcrowded with many tents. And mostly crowded by bachelors and young crowd. Be careful if you are going with Family and kids. We could not sleep whole night as the young crowds were drunk and shouting abusing each other till 6AM morning. It was not good for family and kids. Moreover the food we got in evening barbeque and dinner was below standard. Half cooked chicken, raw panner . Also very importantly, the toilet was very dirty with broken flush . Toilet was not getting cleaned even once in whole night or morning. Toilet should be clean and sanitised every hour. We would not suggest any family to visit the panshet camping with family. The price we paid we expected much better camping. I heard there are many better camping experiences around Pune we must try.

This is a decent enough place if you want to enjoy water sports. Hardly 2 hours from Pune, the drive is quite good. Lots of places to eat nearby. A good option for a day trip.

Panshet Dam is located about 50 Kms from Shivar chowk,Pimple-saudagar,Pune. The drive from Khadakwasla dam to Panshet dam has some stretches of bad roads.
Parking is free for vehicles. Boating & kayaking is available here. We took boating and it costed us Rs 100 per person. The time of boating is only 5-10 minutes so nothing great to speak about the boating. There is a small canteen near the entrance. There is a small children's play area but it requires urgent renovation.
Near to panshet dam there is a MTDC resort.
A very average place to visit, and i will recommend to visit this place only if anyone is near this place as planning only panshet dam from Pune may be a waste of time. If visiting i will suggest to reach this place in evening/early morning to avoid hot sun.

Visited it again last week. Last 1 / 1.5 km road is really bad. Follow the road which goes to MTDC resort & continue till you reach the lake area. There is a restaurant / snacks shop there - which has almost everything that you need. Last time water activities (like boating, Kayaking, water scooter etc.) were not there. This time they were available. Better to reach early - if you want to avoid the rush & also afternoon heat. We did Kayaking for 30 mins. It was fun & safe - as life jackets were provided. After that we had lunch at the same restaurant. If you like non-veg food, then do try their Fish fry. It was awesome !!. Overall had a really good time there. Washrooms are available near the eatery. Not in great condition, but very much usable.
Note: The road after Khadagwasla dam is broken at many stretches. That spoils the mood. Other than that everything else is good.

It lies at a distance of at least 1.5 hours from the city. The drive is quite serene. This dam also has water sport and recreational activities ant the backside where the water is still.

Panshet Dam is situated in mountains reaching there is a big task because the roads are not that good.
As soon as you enter the place you will fall in love with nature, the environment is beautiful and awesome.
Not very much crowded but ok, me and my wife both loved the place, since we live in pune so we get a chance every weekend to roam around and see the beauty around pune

Roads to the dam are not well maintained but the dam has a beautiful peaceful reservoir. Boating is fun and therapeutic wish accessibility and ride would have been the same. However a uniquely peaceful place not far away from the city, only if the administration had maintained it better.

It was the first time I went for Kayaking along with my friends. Picturesque and serene mountain backdrop complemented by lush green vegetation leaves you with a soothing sensation.

During my visit when I enquired with the security staff on;
1. Water sports (Boat ride) - he said it is on the other side of Dam.
2. Road to water sports (Boat ride) - he showed me the tar road before dam wall that goes to other side.
PS: Please check with the dam staff on your next visit.

Yes it is, but you will be well advised to take all the usual precautions that a Solo Female Traveller must take at all such places. Better to take a companion along.
