Another of those places we've walked or driven past numerous times but never visited. At last we managed it and have been kicking ourselves for not visiting before, however, better late than ever. This is a small but beautiful museum in a Grade ll* listed building dating back to the12th century. You can't miss it, it's on Shoreham High Street... More

Outside the intriguing stonework of a vey ancient building, inside a treasury of fascinating exhibits. I spent ages in the section of the area in the second world war soaking up information. The dedication of its volunteers is also to be commended in keeping this lovely little place going.

This museum is one of the oldest in Shoreham. It has similar stonework to its neighbour St Mary de Haura. Indeed following a collapse of the church in the 18th century, some fo the stones were used in repair the Marlipins. It has a lovely medieval timber frame roof, and many exhibits illustrating the various roles of aviation and shipping... More

I find this place fascinating. The building itself is ancient and beautiful and the artefacts inside endlessly interesting. I learn and see something new every time I go. There is a regularly changing exhibition at the back upstairs.

Housed in a historic building on the High Street, Marlipins Museum does a good job exhibiting the history of Shoreham. This town has always been a port and much of the museum is devoted to ship models and maritime exhibits. Of particular interest is the exhibits about Bungalow Village, Shoreham Beach which was the site of the early British silent... More
