About
We are an innovative Islay distillery producing unpeated Bruichladdich, heavily peated Port Charlotte and super-heavily peated Octomore single malt whiskies. We use a wide range of barley types, including organic and bere, grown on a variety of terroirs including Islay. We also distill The Botanist gin. Mary at the Laddieshop will be glad to organise a tour of our distillery for you and the distilling team will happily answer any questions you may have.

    Great tour
Had a great tour of the distillery delivered by Shannon. She certainly knew her stuff and made us feel welcome, particularly with a 10 month old with us. Had a great tasting after and tried their gin aswell!

    Warehouse Tasting and awesome shop
Had a great tasting in the warehouse. I had initially booked a tour but due to some building works the tour had to be cancelled and replaced with a tasting. But I was fully refunded so ended up with a free tasting which was pretty great. Got to try the Octomore that was a distillery exclusive and it was amazing. Katrina was a great guide and her passion for the brand was very clear. Having someone born on the Islay telling the Bruichladdich story in a 200 year old warehouse was a fantastic experience. The gift shop is also probably the best that I visisted with quite a few disterlly only bottles available. Plus lots of cool merch. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and happy to pour samples of different whisky's available and chat. My experience definitly made me a Bruichladdiuch fan for life. Overall a great experience.

    Well worth a visit
Great tasting experience in the warehouse. Delicious whiskies and excellent presentation by our guide whose name I don't remember, sorry ( a really friendly young lady with long straight blond hair). Bruichladdich distillery hasn't gone for the all-out corporate experience like some of the others on Islay and it's all for the better. Highly recommend.

    Wonderful!
The Warehouse tasting was 100% worth doing. Lewis was great, very knowledgeable, and gave a really good insight in Bruichladdich and their whisky! All the staff members were very welcoming and friendly 😊 would highly recommend as one of the distilleries to see on the island!

    Warehouse Tasting
Despite being 15 mins late for the warehouse tasting the staff were brilliant , i phoned ahead to explain our situation and they allowed us to join the other people just after they sat down to start . This is a great option if you want more than a tour and get to the core of the distilleries ethos ,we tasted 3 drams drawn from barrels by hand 1 each from their range ( Bruichladdich,Port Charlotte,Octomore) Each was very different to the previous , increasing in peat strength , great explanation from the tour guide of each and a emphasis on the group (10people) asking questions and talking to each other to get the most out of the session. The session didn't feel rushed or weighed down with needless explanations ,and so it passed fairly quickly and we all left with a much greater understanding of the distillery and its variety . Finished in the shop by filling a bottle myself from a cask of 366 max bottles , so something that i could only get there and really ended the time on a high . Definitely want to come back and see more of the site and the other things on offer for the visitor , Great location , great staff and really great whiskey ,already looking forward to going again!!!!!

Fantastic Birthday Visit - Outstanding Distillery
We visited Bruichladdich Distillery for my father's 85th birthday. It was simply fantastic! From the first correspondence with Samantha about what we were trying to do (a distillery tour and a warehouse tasting for 11) I could tell that the folks at Bruichladdich really care about their visitors as real people, and not just as numbers walking through the gates. Knowing that it was my father's birthday, all the staff went over and above to make the occasion special, including letting him siphon whisky out of the barrel, taste some extra samples, and even meet James Brown, owner of the Octomore Farm. My dad will never forget this experience, and Briuchladdich did not have to do any of this, but the went the extra mile. The whole experience was outstanding, and I cannot thank them enough for their generosity and kindness.

    Great tour and shop
The distillery tour here with ruby was really interesting and we loved seeing the historical equipment whilst learning more about the ins and outs of the whisky making process. The tasting at the end was fab and we particularly appreciated the availability of drivers drams. The shop is really sexy with loads of great bits and bobs - we particularly loved the glasses on offer!

    Absolutely worth booking a tasting
We booked the warehouse tasting and it was incredibly good. Our guide was excellent and hearing about the history of the distillery was pretty fascinating. The whiskies that we tasted were ‘one off’ barrels, specially selected. All of the staff that we came into contact with were friendly and superbly knowledgable. The shop is well stocked too. Impressive tour and venue. I highly recommend.

THE BOTANIST....not so old but very worth it
I did the tour for THE BOTANIST, the Gin. We had a blast, probably because of the small group and a very dedicated and passionate "guide", rather story teller. She is so into her home island, its whiskys and the Gin, it is wonderful to listen to her. Very knowledgable and very eager to answer all questions. She took all the time there was and had us enjoy the distillery to the utmost. Afterwards, it‘s as well possible to test some whisky since it's the same distillery. Lovely view on the Fife, too.

We had to wait a long time for our tasting - mind you we had a booked slot made by Rabbies. We thought they probably wanted us to look around the shop and buy stuff. When we finally did have a tasting the chap was not very friendly. It seemed like he didn't really like his job and was very non-chalant with the whole experience. It was done hurriedly and the whisky wasn't even any good! All in all we had a not-so-nice experience.

My wife, parents and I went on the Bruichladdich Experience tour, which included a tour of the distilling process and a tasting in one of their barrel houses. It was so cool to see how it is all done and try 3 of their different spirits straight from the barrel. Our guide was Ruby and she did a fantastic job of telling us the history and how everything worked. She was incredibly knowledgeable about how everything worked and was able to easily answer any questions. You can tell that she is very passionate about what she does. I will definitely have to make another trip to Islay in the future and stop back by.

We did the Private tour and Warehouse Tasting which was one of the best whisky tasting experiences ever. We were taken back into the warehouse to sample 3 single casks of some of the best whisky you'll ever try (1 ea. classic "Laddie", Port Charlotte and Octomore) and none of them for sale! Then a private tour of the whole process and finished up in the tasting room. Host was very gracious and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

We loved our warehouse tour. One of the best things we did while on Islay. I would definitely recommend it! I would go to this distillery again absolutely. If you aren’t familiar with Bruichladdich you need to go, if you are familiar it’s a must!

We didn't have time for a tour of Bruichladdich, but called in to have a look around the shop area. We were greeted by a lovely, friendly lady, who chatted not only about whisky and gin but also about photography, wildlife and Gaelic. A really interesting conversation and warm welcome. Unfortunately we had limited luggage space so couldn't buy a full size bottle to take home, but the friendly lady gave us some drivers' drams to try later.

This place marries the tradition and modern colors and concepts. The free testing was very well done and it would be the first place I go back to when going back to Islay. Top level staff

We did the warehouse tasting which gave you samples of three cask whiskies and the full story of Bruichladdich. Our host (Catriona) was really welcoming, engaging and hugely knowledgeable about the distillery and Islay. Each of the whisky's was really distinct, mellow, warming and delicious. The group wasn't small so there is plenty of chance to ask questions and chat. A brilliant way to learn about Bruichladdich and fall in love with it.
