- stevebintleyBedford, United Kingdom8,886 contributionsNice area but lots of empty units nowNice little harbour to roam around with plenty of boats and waterside houses to admire. Outside of the bars there isn’t anywhere really to sit, and a lot of the stores and restaurants seem to have shut down which is a shame, but what is there is decent. With the nearby kids waterpark facilities it’s somewhere for the whole family and makes it easy to spend a number of hours in the area.Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 16 January 2024

The atmosphere is family friendly and a free movie was held on the boardwalk if you wished to sit and enjoy. Food outlets were plentiful and plenty of choices for an ice cream to follow up.
Families were enjoying a swim close by as it was a very warm evening.
No need to be lonely, come down and people watch and soak up the atmosphere. Even tho very busy, parking was not a problem for us.

We visited here on our son's recommendation and we were glad we did. The wharf is surrounded by many shops, cafes, restaurants and bars and there is lots of variety to choose from if you are intending to eat here. There is a small beach area which they were lightly dredging at the time we were there. We stopped off for a beer tasting paddle at 3 Sheets where we sat at the window and could see right out to the harbour. There s something for everyone here.

This is a local favourite and also a great place for tourists to visit.
Situated behind a sea wall it boasts AQWA and a wide choice of options. As it is on a boardwalk you can always find a spot to sit and chill.
There is no shortage of restaurants bars or a pub. You can get a meal whether it be breakfast lunch or dinner. Can get a full meal or just grab some fish & chips or a kebab and watch the scenery.
This is a favourite with northern suburbs locals as it had a family environment with kid safe beach and aquatic fun options for kids in the summer months. I come here all year round and always enjoy my visits.

We LOVED Hillary’s boat harbour. We were visiting from Sydney and returned a few times in our 7 days trip. It was great for small children, there were lots of great eateries, and the small theme park had great staff who were very friendly and ensured we had a great time!

This place is bigger than you might expect. Apart from all the boat/ yacht mooorings, the place is full of shops and places to eat - quite a destination in itself. We caught the ferry to/ from Rottnest Island here. Plenty to keep waiting passengers amused.

Great place for toddlers to waddle in the water. With a safe and shallow bay for littles to play in the sand and get experience in the ocean, Hillays is a brilliant spot for families. All the facilities needs, fast food, taverns. shade, shops and showers. Protected beach so tiny waves.

Great vibe- many choices for food, fun and entertainment. Was busy as always due to amazing Perth weather and school holidays. So many food choices and places to relax and soak ip the sun and do a spot of shopping too.

Hi can I walk my down around the hilarys boat harbour and get a takeaway with the dog on a lead. Thanks
Written 21 October 2017
Yes you can there are lots of dogs but they have to be on a leash
Written 21 October 2017
It is not actually a dog beach. Many people walk their dogs along the board walk on a lead, there is a coffee shop behind the yacht club that is dog friendly and provides water bowls etc.

How to get from perth city centre to hilarys
Written 5 May 2015
The easiest way to Hillarys is by public transport. Take the Joondalup line traib towards Bulter at the Perth Underground Station. Stop at Warrick station then take the 423 bus. This bus will terninate right at Hillarys. The teip will take avout 1.5 hrs.
Going back will be the same route.
If you are travelling as a family, buy the fanily all day ticket which will cost you just more than $11.
