An enchanting castle silhouetted against the backdrop of the Cuneo Alps, first inhabited by Valerano, the Lord of the Marquisate of Saluzzo. Among the medieval era interiors, the salon stands out. A baronial setting where one of the most awe-inspiring examples of 15th century painting is to be found, with mythical heroes dressed as knights and heroines as ladies-of-the-court by the fountain of eternal youth.

Like most castles there is a steep climb to the entrance. The castle served both as a fortification and a stately residence but is the latter aspect which is on display. Rooms are adorned with fascinating frescos and painted ceilings. You almost feel as if...More

The frescos are wonderful, wonderfully painted figures and animals. For the frescos alone this castle is worth a special detour.

There are some beautiful frescos here, but the written explanation does not provide information on artist or time period. There is also a fee to take photos.

The frescoes at Castello della Manta are definitely worth the trip to see. Mainly a large room with frescoes covering the walls and ceiling. Nice audioguide comes with the admission and does a great job describing in detail what you are looking at. Some other...More

Although off the well-beaten tourist path, for those interested in art a visit to Castello della Manta is well worthwhile. The high point is a single room whose walls are painted with one of the masterpieces of Italian Late Gothic art. On one side are...More

Really worth the small walk up. Nice view over the wine fields. Free entry to walk around. Also a museum inside.

Beautiful ancient castle with absolutely stunning frescos. The audio tour, available in English, cleverly described the characters of the castle's storied past. The castle's chapel is also amazing. Highly recommend!

This castle doesn't look like much from the outside. It's actually rather small but has some real treasures. When buying tickets, I bought an extra ticket that allowed me to take photographs (that's a first!), but it was well worth it. You get a headset...More
