The whole park is closed until further notice! Disappointed!! We went with our paddle boards and the park is closed because they are tearing up the road.

D.L.Bliss state park is one of the tourist attraction situated on the western side of Lake Tahoe. Beaches are there in the park. The highest elevation light house is there in this state park

We arrived at the park around 7:45 on a Saturday. We got the next to last parking spot so the parking fills quickly. There are several places to park. We parked at the entry to the Lighthouse trail. The Lighthouse trail is good but the actual lighthouse is nothing exciting. We took the Rubicon trail for a while and then backtracked.
Parking is $10 and when the park fills up, you have to park on the street and walk a mile down to the park.
We enjoyed the park and the hiking. The beach area is pretty nice too.

Decided to check out Lester Beach on our last day and it did not disappoint. I enjoyed it more than Sand Harbor because it’s more laid back. More quiet. The sand is a little rough on the feet though, but just wear sandals and you’ll be fine. I’m not sure if I’d recommend it for young children, unless they can swim, it gets deep pretty quick right off the beach, and there’s no lifeguard. If you’re wanting a pretty, laid back place to hang for the day, I’d check out DL Bliss and Lester Beach.

I stayed at the hike/bike campsite at the D. L. Bliss campground. There isn't a lot of information about this site on their website - it's a $7 walk-up (unreserved) campsite available only to people arriving on foot or by bicycle. It's located right next to the fee payment booth. Since the site is unreserved I was nervous that it would be taken, but the rangers said they don't usually sell it (one of them wasn't even sure how to ring it up). This part of the campground is far from the beach, but if you walk up the beginning part of the lighthouse trail you can see a nice view of the lake.

We was unlucky to find out that the beach loop was unavailable. We booked camp 24, the last one available. We still had a great experience.

We enjoyed hiking on the trails and taking pictures of Lake Tahoe's only island. There was a lot of things to do here. We saw the old lighthouse after hiking a few miles.

There is a problem, which is that bathrooms aren't sanantized properly. During the coronavirus pandemic, park employees failed to properly sanitize and clean the park.

Overall, I'd recommend you to go to D.L. Bliss State Park.

The state park was beautiful. The trails were amazing. Both maps I got were terrible. That is the only reason for it being 4 stars. People were very kind there. The walks were beautiful. Some of the trails that were told didn’t exist. The parking lots are not clearly marked with their purpose.

These photos are from 7am. When I left at 9am on a Thursday it was pretty full.

Just spent two nights camping here. DL Bliss campground was lovely. We were on the upper side in a lovely site. The campground, 140+ sites are on the slopes of Lake Tahoe making the setting not only lovely but very nicely laid out. Despite the crowds at this time of year especially for those wanting to get down to Emerald Bay, the campground is spacious and well off of Hwy 89 so there is no road noise like in many other places. It was completely full but you did not feel squeezed in by nearby campers. Most campers were well behaved unlike other places we have been. Hiking, biking, swimming and boating are all within easy reach. Have fun.

We were lucky to snag a site on the “beach” loop. Not sure I’d stay here again unless I could get a beach site. The campsites are not on the beach, but a close walk down some stairs. All other sites are up a hill. Too far to walk. Some sites were pretty small. Ours #142 was a decent size and fit 7 people just fine. The campground was a mix of family & a few party kids. The bathrooms are flush and are ok clean.

A great place to start your hike on the Rubicon Trail is from the road by the beach area. If you are going all the way to Emerald Bay make sure you have a car shuttle to bring you back. Then enjoy a refreshing swim in Lake Tahoe
