Birdwoods Gallery is a very special place in the heart of Hawke's Bay. Set in the countryside just 3km from Havelock North Village, Birdwoods Gallery and its small companion, the Birdwoods Sweet Shop, are a 'must see' for young and old. Two historic buildings have been relocated to this pretty rural setting and transformed to become a distinctive and enchanting visitor attraction. Enjoy our famous morning or afternoon tea or come for a delicious garden lunch with family or friends. End it off with a delicious real fruit ice-cream from our little Ice Cream Shop.

This is the ultimate relaxing summers day destination. Its a short drive (5 mins) out of Havelock down Middle Road, but its worth it. Nice and quiet, outdoor seating, great food, beautiful atmosphere.

Thank you for your short and sweet review. Spot on.... except it is also good for a winter's day treat. Think tea and scones by the fire, or a bowl of soup in The Conservatory. We do winter well too.... Keep visiting and thank you again. Louise Stobart - Owner More

The reason I have used ladies in thetitle of my review is because this cafe is attached to a very nice shop and let's be honest....ladies love shops. I really enjoyed the shop and would go back just for that. The other reason I have ladies in the title of my review is that the food portions were very ladylike.... More

Thank you for your review and we are delighted that you enjoyed your ladies lunch and found it tasty. Most of the menu items are quite rich in flavour and often guests enjoy one of our delicious cakes as dessert afterwards which leaves one more than satisfied. However, your point will certainly be taken into consideration. Thank you again for... More

Beautiful experience. Greater by friendly staff. Beautiful setting. Perfect destination for a celebration for Mothers Day. They were run off their feet. But you wouldn't know. Happy warm staff giving mothers dinning a free little treat. Beautiful cake and tea. Finished by a lollie bag from the old fashion lollie shop. Wonderful lady in the candy shop made every one... Thank you for our review of your visit on Mother's Day, which is our busiest day in the kitchen of the entire year! We are delighted you enjoyed it all, particularly on such a busy day which did stretch us to our limits and broke all records! We enjoyed it too, with not a single complaint that we know of... More

We visited Birdwood but didn't eat there so can't comment on the cafe. The gallery had some beautiful gifts available but they were VERY expensive, we didn't buy anything. The gardens were lovely to walk around, the sculptures were really great but very highly priced. The sweet shop was a delight, very quaint with so many old fashioned sweets on... More

Thank you for your review and sorry you did not eat here as the food is delicious. We are a gallery where all our items are handmade by people we know and are all very individual. We do not support mass produced 'gift shop' stock, hence our pricing, which we consider fair to the artist, the consumer and ourselves. With... More

Absolutely love this place ! It has something for everyone Their plunger coffee is very good, there's no espresso machine here but even though I was sceptical I loved their coffee - and it was served on a nice tray with china cups and a bowl of sugar lumps. Children and adults alike can enjoy the extensive gardens and the... More

We met family for lunch and it was a special occasion made even more enjoyable by the lovely airy surroundings - green park like lawns, mature trees, happy ongoing birdsong. The art and treasures on display in the tastefully converted old church were an interesting and tempting diversion as we made our way up the old altar steps to a... More

Quaint little sweet shop in a beautiful location surrounded by farms. Jars full of different lollies. It is heaven for sweet lovers. Plus there's a cafe and gallery beside it.

I just love to visit Birdwoods Gallery - it is so handy to Havelock North and has the best little Sweet Shop in town! I love to wander amonst all the life sized sculptures after enjoying a hot cup of coffee. The staff were excellent and very attentive. A wonderful place to visit with family and friends or just by... Take your time when you visit Birdwoods; there is much to see and enjoy. The food yes, the sweet shop of course and the sculpture garden most definitely.
