Walking through the Maori land of Waimarama with Robert is like picking the brain of a living breathing book of legends. It was an absolutely incredible experience that felt genuine and incredibly instructive. Awesome!

When I looked at the pictures on here, I understand why these people liked the show, and I didn't. They claimed that the place they usually have ("stunning outdoor space with eels who are swimming in a pond" (NOT!!!!) was "unavailable" and they took us to something that looked more like a "school cafeteria". The supposed "tribe" was a family... More

We wanted to have a Maori cultural experience but not a plastic or programmed tour. This tour exceeded expectations on all levels. We had genuine interactions with local Maori and there was time to chat and all our questions were answered. Lovely people sharing their stories and their lives. That is really special in this day and age. Highly recommend... More

To be honest the tour we had was poorly organise and the tour guides seem to be just interrupting each other. They were quite rude sometimes and I am very disappointed in the tour I received.

This tour introduced us to an overview of the Maori people. We enjoyed learning about their culture. The demonstrations were of their warrior’s skill with a taiaha; some played their musical instruments (taonga pūoro); their twirling instruments; they gave an excellent explanation of their tattoos (tā moko); and their ritual haka. We were there on a cold day, and they... More

Three of us were deeply fortunate to have a guided tour with Robert , Te Mata Peak and Pou. It was a most moving and informative tour - we thank you with all our hearts. Robert's warmth, humour and especially his depth of knowledge, political awareness, and wairua, made the tour an unforgettable experience. We had hoped to book one... More

This was by far my husband's favorite part of our whole trip! He could not stop talking about it. So cultural and authentic. Robert was our tour guide and was so relaxed and welcoming, we just adored him. Again...my husband still can't stop talking about him. Was overall a great way to learn about the history of New Zealand and... More

We visited December 5, 2014 on an excursion named Arch of Ancestors from Radiance of the Seas. We enjoyed our guide Denise and our host Robert. We enjoyed the ceremonial challenge and greetings. Perhaps because this was during a school break, there was a group of young people dressed in traditional clothing who eagerly participated in demonstrations. We also enjoyed... More

For 50 years I had dreams of visiting New Zealand and going to see a Maori tribe show so we flew into Sydney from the UK and sailed on Voyager of the seas down to New Zealand we booked a tour to see the Waimarama Maori show, we met our guide in her tribal gown who was part of the... More

How sad and hurtful this posting is. I can say to the writer that my family’s welcome to you was genuine and warm and that during your time with us you would have been treated with the utmost consideration and respect. That is a cornerstone of our culture. At the end of each tour we always give our guests an... More
