The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the entire shop is well set out and interesting but the bees were quite a unique experience. Delicious honey tasting, with flavours we had never heard of. I can thoroughly recommend the NZ flavours, Pohutukawa was a real favourite though the blue borage is ideal for glazing a ham! Always unique souvenirs too.

Two trips to this wonderful place to show our g grand daughters how and where our honey comes from.
Spent several hours watching the bees working and discovering the "queen"with videos to explain the process. There is a dressing up corner either for boy or girl - exciting for them. Of course honey tasting is a must
Free entry and a great educational as well as fun
A "must" to do and enjoyed by young and old alike

On previous visits to Havelock North we had never been to Arataki honey but we decided to go this time and were not disappointed. The selection of honey and other gifts in the retail area was extensive. A highlight for the kids was spotting the queen bees in the hives (they have coloured dots on their backs). Overall a worthwhile place to visit when in Hawkes Bay.

On a rainy HB day we spent an hour here learning about bees. So much information is available about bees and our daughter was like a sponge soaking it all up. I’d recommend for anyone in the area.

A great tourist attraction with interesting exhibits / shop. We learnt some new knowledge about bees and it was quite fascinating to stop and watch the beehive in action. The honey was delcious but sadly due to Covid no honey tasting was available. Enough to keep children busy for 45 minutes, thank you

It sounds like you had good fun on your visit to us and we appreciate your great review. We are sad about the lack of honey tasting too, but hopefully with Level 1 less than a week a way we can be offering the whole kit and caboodle again really soon. You must come back and taste our honeys :)

Seeing the bees was amazing! My husband said he could spend all day watching them. There were so many honey varieties to sample, so many products to buy. Very clean toilets. There was a candle making activity but we didn’t do it.

Stumbled upon this place after visiting Cape Kidnappers. Very informative and educational about bees, bee farming and honey. So many variety of honey for tasting before deciding which to buy. Also a wide avriety of honey products. So many choices and not enough money; and luggage allowance.

Interesting and educational. Never before had the opportunity to taste so many honeys including genuine Manuka. I thought there would be more information/presentations about bee-keeping and actually what goes on in a hive.
For sampling free disposable spoons are used but it was a bit disconcerting to see people using the same spoon throughout the process and touching the spouts on the sampling pumps.
Beautiful countryside on the way to it. Good to see a successful independent producer.

Great place to visit. The kids loved the honey tasting, searching for the Queen Bee and the different activities. There is often candle making in the holidays. Great gift shop with lots of local products at good prices.

Lots of great products and a wide range and prices. Can see bees behind glass. Usually they do tasting but due to level 2 covid weren’t. Got some
Honey anyway and some other beauty products.
