The ruins are well maintained and easy to reach. I also definitely suggest to use Ludza Castle app which tells and shows you how was it back then.

Historical place with some ruins. Worth a stop and taking a look of this ancient place, if interested in history.

But it shouldn't be the aim of your visit. What I liked more is Ludza town. It is very clean, calm, with many interesting monuments and flowers.

As only a couple of walls are still standing, this 'castle' is certainly not worth the detour. But if you're near, you might as well stop for three minutes or so.
