- Anne CToronto, Canada7 contributionsA whole museum full of wonderful dioramasRoom after room of wonderful dioramas with the flora and fauna of different ecoregions of Saskatchewan. You can see a mother and baby beavers inside their lodge and look underwater in the pond surrounding them. There are several dioramas with insects at 12 x actual size. High quality background paintings. There is also a good dinosaur section and an interesting indigenous section.Visited October 2023Travelled soloWritten 13 October 2023
- West LaurelMaryland49 contributionsSaskatchewan's Plants and Animals, All Places, All ErasAt the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina, we walked through the natural world of Saskatchewan, prehistoric and modern. In the lower floor, we saw prehistoric life. The largest exhibit is a full-size replica of "Scotty", the largest T. Rex known, who was found in Saskatchewan. Scotty's original bones reside in a museum built near where he was found. We saw other impressive fossils, such as an extinct species of bison, whose horns rival those of a Texas longhorn. On the upper floor, we were on the same level as Scotty's head. The rest of that floor has dioramas showing all the natural habitats in Saskatchewan. I had no idea how many different natural areas Saskatchewan has; the province stretches from the subarctic region in the north to the more temperate regions by the US-Canada border. If you just strolled past each exhibit, taking only enough time to admire the scenery and read the general descriptions, it would take an hour or two. However, if you stopped to read the explanatory signs that list every plant and animal, it could take all day! There is no restaurant in the museum. However, told us about all the eateries within easy walking distance. They let us back in after lunch without charging us a second admission.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 March 2024

The exhibits were extremely well-designed! I thought it was also the perfect size, informative without being overwhelming. We spent around 2 hours here, which was enough to experience everything. Husband, Charles and I toured the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and both of us were very impressed with the beautiful art in displays and backgrounds on the dioramas! I love museums but Charles not so much. Yet he really enjoyed it and said he read almost everything (unusual for him). The short movie on how Scotty, the CT T-Rex was found was well done.

This is a beautiful museum with lots of information and some wonderful displays. Of course, there is Scotty, the world's largest T-Rex skeleton. But there is also a wealth of information (& wonderful displays) on modern animals inhabiting Saskatchewan and a great first nations section.
There is no charge for this museum, although a donation is suggested. We made a suitable donation.

An enjoyable experience learning about these two interesting periods of local history. The artifacts, dioramas and display signage detail First Nations life and the changes brought about by Europeans' arrival. The dinosaur exhibits include the largest known T-rex, many fossil remains and interactive displays that kids especially enjoy.

Visited with some colleagues on a work trip to Regina. Enjoyed the ambient sounds throughout the museum. The staff were wonderful and very helpful. Compared to other museums, I’d call it average. The displays are quite nice and it would be easy to spend a few hours here. I enjoyed the museum and would recommend it.

Very clean, well laid out and very interesting museum. Plenty to see, 3 or 4 hours easily to see it all. Admission is $5.00 donation. Small gift shop on site, ample free parking. Well worth the time spent!

My Grandsons loved it! Could have stayed all day. So much to see and learn.Very clean bathrooms, everything very well kept. Staff is great, pointing out things of interest to kids. They have a scavenger hunt that we all played as walked through. Native displays are very informative and got the kids asking question, which is always good

Definitely worth seeing. Especially with young kids. Really amazing exhibits. Was amazed it was by donation. The dinosaurs were awesome. Cool new exhibit as well. My only thought is it felt like some of the wording in the aboriginal exhibit was not current and could maybe use a once over. Would for sure come again
