A very mysterious character, Archie Belaney (aka: Grey Owl) spent his last years here on Ajawaan Lake in Prince Albert National Park. This is a great trip, and is best enjoyed with the guidance of the folks at the Waskesiu Marina and Adventure Centre. Part of the trip is over Kingsmere Lake, so you need a boat or canoe. Trip... This was my first backpacking experience for me and my 14 year old son. We backpacked to the North end camp site and hiked the rest of the way to Grey Owl Cabin. We've also been to his cabin in Riding Mountain. The cabins are similar and kept in good condition considering how old they are. We love to hike... More

Definitely not a trip for the faint of heart. You need to portage your motor boat in on a train car, then you need to hug the shore of whatever direction the wind is coming on kingsmere. If you have no clue about boats and wind and how to drive one when it gets crazy, you could very well die... More

Beautiful natural scenery. Tread the ground of Canadian history. You will love the national park, and the lakefront. Highly recommend it

My dad and I canoed here this summer, making an easy three day trip by heading up through Bagwa & Lily Lakes into Kingsmere. It was nice to get out of the canoe and have somewhere to hike to, especially somewhere so shrouded in the lore of Saskatchewan and Canada. I hear that this is not the original cabin (though... We did this hike in the summer of 2014. We took the easy way with a boat ride from the South shore of Kingsmere to the tip of Ojawan lake. Then it is another 40 minutes of so of hiking in to the actual cabin. There is alot of climbing up and down hills but very scenic. We were a... More

We LOVE this place. Been there 4 times over the past 8 years. It's a small Saskatchewan treasure - beautiful canoe trip and a pretty easy hike because there is no elevation change. If you are hiking - consider Sept or early October. It's cooler but there are no mosquitoes. If you are canoeing and kayaking opt for full summer... More
