The Old Port is a picturesque part of Quebec. It is a really lovely area in which to take a stroll and just enjoy yourself. There are all types of shops, from restaurants and bars to gift shops and everything else you would wish for. And there is the river and the boats and the beautiful scenery. You wouldn't want to miss it.

This is an interesting area of some good restaurants and some terrific architecture. A great place to take a little walk around. The train station and bus stations are here.

Old Port Quebec is really part of the Lower Town with a focus on the riverfront. We learned that much of the area next to the river is actually fill and that the town was fortified where the "old" buildings begin. Wonderful 250+ year old area. Enjoy the maritime opportunities (ferries, excursion boats, cruise ships, and passing freighters from all over the world) The location of the St. Lawrence River is the reason for Quebec (and its prominent fortified location). The art exhibits in this area were very meaningful as well (done annually) for those who appreciate them.

We stayed in an apartment in this area and were our walking each day and night. Lots of very old architecture, lots of walkable streets. Views of the river and the cruise ships. And the train station. Good places to eat.

Old stone bldgs alongside new port facilities and galleries make this a jumbled, colourful and interesting neighbourhood to scour. The ships are closer to public streets than most big)gish) ports, which makes it even more interesting.

We walked all over - good sidewalks and lots to see. Very historic buildings and lots of history. You can take some great photos of this part of the city.

The part of the city is close to where our hotel was located, I loved it. It was charming and historic without feeling touristy. There are good restaurants located here and nice antique shops.

We went all the way down to the terminal from Place Royal and the closer we got to the terminal, the more it fizzled. You don't need to go further than the arts district.

I only wish we had more time to spend in Québec City. We hadn't planned to spend much time in the Old Port, but after taking the one hour sightseeing bus tour, we realized that there is much more to see here. Next visit here will dedicate hours to explore this section that dates back to the early 1600s.
