Pleasant way to avoid the stairs.

For 3 dollars each way, you get a reasonable view, because it will invariably be packed. However if... read more

After a week of walking, and eating I was exhausted. I used this twice for getting back up to the Frontenac. Most days the stairs were fine but oh how wonderful to know this is an option when exhausted!!

For 3 dollars each way, you get a reasonable view, because it will invariably be packed. However if time is short, walk, as there are large queues if a cruise ship is in town.

Spend $3 and save walking back up all the stairs to the Chateau Frontenac. The trip is quick so have your camera ready if you want to take pictures.

Quebec City is very hilly, some of which are very steep. The Funicular is the easiest way to get from lower town to the main area.

Great views in the evening and much easier than walking up or down the hills. This is a great mode of going from the top to the bottom to continue enjoying the shopping experience.

If you are healthy and have the time, I suggest you walk up to Terrasse Dufferin & Château Frontenac, however for a quicker & less taxing way to the top, take the Funicular.

It costs about $2.50 (US) each way per person but the view on the way is worth the cost. The ride is only a minute or so long. You'll be glad you took the Funicular. The upper area of town is as beautiful as the...More

This was a very short ride up the hill at Quebec City Old Town. The views over and across the river are spectacular but brief. A great alternative to taking the stairs. $3

To avoid using the steps to get down to the waterfront from Hotel Frontenac. I think it was $2. Unique experience if you haven't been on 1

This is the only way to travel from lower town unless you are into step training or very physically fit. The cost is 3,00 (one way) which I think is a bit much but well worth it if you need to find your way back...More

For our stay, we parked in a parking garage and walked everywhere. This garage would be about 2 blocks away from the top side of the funicular, on the other side of the Hotel Frontenac. Not sure if there are others closer... More
