Narrow streets with uneven brick paving. Interesting history that goes back 400'years and character that rivals Europe. Well kept and clean.

Lots of shopping, restaurants, art galleries, and parks to see and enjoy. Be ready for walking up hills on cobblestones and uneven pavement, but that's part of the charm.

We walked all over downtown and then took the ride up to Haute Ville. The sidewalks in both towns are great for sightseeings and the wooden walk near the Frontenac offers great views and board walking. Lots of shops and great restaurants in Upper Town.

If you enjoy shopping, eating & drinking, people-watching, and exploring great architecture, then consider a visit here, and stay here. It's easy to spend a day exploring the Haute-Ville and another in the Basse-Ville, eating and drinking and exploring hundreds of shops and historic sites....More

Upper Old Town Quebec is much larger than the Lower Old Town Quebec and not quite as charming BUT there is so much more to see in Upper Old Town Quebec. Must do them both.

More of a catch-all than a specific location, most of what tourists are looking for will be in the upper town or the lower town, but there is enough ambience to make this a beautiful place to walk around, even if there is no particular...More

Haute-Ville is still a charming quarter of restaurant patios, musicians and artists. The sense of life four hundred years ago is still enchanting. Some of the places I remember from the sixties are not there, and some of the restaurants seem a little less unique....More

Upper Town has many small shops and inviting restaurants near the iconic hotel - some with free WiFi if you need it. There is lots of variety in tourist items such as shirts, trinkets, postcards, and Canadian food treats. Take several hours to wander the...More

Can someone explain the distinction between lower town, upper town and old Quebec? Trip Advisor has these 3 listed as separate attractions.

The hop on hop off bus tour was quite pricey. I believe it was close to 40 dollars Canadian per/person. We opted to walk and see everything on foot.
