A creative chocolate shop and an informative small chocolate museum where visitors can learn about the history of chocolate. The Chocolate Museum is free, self guided and displays more than 200 artifacts and objects related to chocolate history. All the displays now have their English version. Two video are presented (Artisan Chocolate Making and the Industrial Chocolate Making Process (French), from the cocoa tree to the chocolate bar). Watch the chocolatiers at work through a window while you try one of our 10 renowned hot chocolates. In the boutique, the chocolate lovers will find a great variety of classic and audacious handmade chocolates (try the Biquette, a chocolate with goat cheese and Bartlett pear puree!). Indulge yourself with one of our chocolate pastries (chocolate brownies, cookies, cupcakes and decadent chocolate cake) and during the summer, let yourself be tempted by one of the 69 homemade ice cream, sorbet, frozen yogourt and tofu offered! Érico is located in the Faubourg Saint-Jean Baptiste, a convivial part of the city, outside the touristic old walls, that is worth the visit.

This shop was on our food tour of Quebec and boy was I glad. We got to taste some of the chocolate, learned a little history. Best of all we got to shop. This chocolate is beyond compare.

Erico Chocolaterie is located about a 10 minute walk outside the walled city. It's just past and across the street from a small cathedral on St. Jean. Don't miss this place!! You will be delighted with any chocolate there. They offer about 10 different hot chocolates depending on cacao content. I had the Alto El Sol (65% cacao) which was... More

Oh my gosh the hot chocolate alone is worth the trip from the states. It's amazing! We got two different ones from the ten choices on the menu. Both were delicious and so different. We couldn't decide which we liked best. We also got a selection of their handcrafted chocolates. I regret not buying more. We tried to fit in another... More

We went to Erico Chocolates today after lunch and we were agreeably surprised! There was a nice little chocolate museum where you can find really interesting things about chocolate. You also can see some amazing pieces of art made with chocolate (chocolate dress and purse, sculptures...). Then there was the chocolate shop. Lots of chocolates bonbons, cookies, pastry and such...... More

Do make the effort to walk along Rue St. Jean outside the wall of the old city. Make your way to Erico - a wonderful chocolatiere that focuses on delightful perfect bites (and not on volume based sugar loads). Do not pass on the opportunity to walk across the street to visit the wonderful gourmet food store - the oldest... More

I don't understand all the great reviews. I had the erico hot chocolate and it tasted average. Like the kind I make out of a powdered package. The museum was small, but nice to look at unique items. If you don't have time to visit, you aren't missing much.

The attached shop, Erico is pretty amazing in itself with a great selection of confectionery. The attached museum is pretty cool, as it covers a broad range of history and evolution of chocolates and confectionery, located near the walled city, on Saint-Jean.

They sell the best sorbet and ice cream we have ever tasted. My friend had a grapefruit sorbet and i had a orange chocolate ice cream which were both so good. The hot chocolate was decadent and rich in chocolate... WE EVEN WENT TWICE during our 4 day trip in Quebec city. Also very very affordable

As a true chocoholic I was very excited to have found this place on trip advisor. Perhaps I set my expectations too high. Firstly, it is not particularly pleasing to the eye, I found it to be dark, dingy, and lacking in any color that one might be enticed by. Secondly, there were boring displays on the walls, many of... It's just a small chocolate store so don't have really big expectations about going to a big chocolate factory
