Taking long walks in the snowy evenings in this neighbourhood is peaceful and sometimes allow you to see the inside of these century old apartments with charming architecture.

As someone who lives on the south shore, i love to go to the Plateau very often for it’s colorful ambiance and people. There are always people playing music at the exit of the metro station. On Mount Royal Street there are so many cool little shops and restaurants open to anyone willing to try them! A few minutes away... More

I did not look into the map to get there but it was a nice walk up the hill. The view from the belvedere was great! I waited for a bus on my way back and it took a while to arrive, so plan well or dress warm...

I have stayed in many parts of Montreal during my short time living there, but I like this one the most. You can find many shops and little restaurants hidden just in the middle of regular apartment buildings. You can also find few parks where you can grill and bbq in the summer. Everyone here is really chilled and welcoming.... More

It is a very nice area to visit do shopping and if the sky is clear, very close to it there is the mountain where you can have a very great view of the city

Great neighbourhood for a leisurely stroll, lots of cafes, restaurants and interesting shops, all gave character and a nice escape from the usual suspects you see in any shopping centre

This is a very cool area of Montreal where all the hippest young people hang out. Restaurants and cafes are plentiful and boutique style shops are fun to browse in for both new and vintage items.

We own a place here in the plateau and we live in boston half the time. I have lived around the world and plateau is a unique and amazing place. It used to be a low middle class neighbourhood but it's rather expensive these days. It kept it's artist studios and nonchalant vibe. Mainly French speaking , you can be... More

Staying in Le Plateau Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Le Plateau Mont-Royal
Go native in Plateau Mont-Royal, where bespoke shopping, hip eateries, and wacky paint jobs attract locals and transplants alike, making it one of the city's most diverse and distinctly authentic experiences. A creative hub, Montreal's artistic elite pack the cafes along Rue Saint-Denis, where young painters and fashion designers draw inspiration from the playful murals and stately Victorian homes that dot the Plateau's side streets. Not a major sightseeing destination, a visit to Plateau Mont-Royal allows you to enjoy a local perspective, soaking in indie films, latte art, contemporary galleries, and the city's best bagels. A center of polyglot culture, Québécois accents mingle with shades of Portuguese, Greek, and Hebrew in the area's iconic Mile End district, where restaurants straddle chic designer boutiques, serving up chorizo and caldo verde. Friendliest to those on foot, it's a jungle of colourful awnings and sidewalk umbrellas, pedestrian walks and luxury shopping.
