Mile-End is a quaint yet contemporary quarter teaming with multiculturalism and filled with cafés, bars, restaurants, specialty grocery shops, boutiques, galleries, hot yoga spots, great bakeries and Montreal-style bagels served fresh and hot. Many of its residents are eco-friendly and artistic -- in summer, it is not unusual to see guitarists strumming a tune.

I would had been annoyed Had i walked 2mi to get here. There isn't much. There is one main st for restaurants and shops, but mostly it was residential. Very pleasant, but not much for tourist.

A hip and up and coming neighborhood that still seemed to hang on to many of its roots from the bagel shops to family owned coffee places and restaurants.

After a short stroll in the very touristy Old part of Montreal, heat for the Mile end to see the real Montreal. Don't miss Fairmount Bagel ( more varieties than Saint Viateur bagel) and a chicken sandwich for lunch at Serrano's on Satin Viateur. Just...More

The Portuguese chicken is among the best I've ever had. The Octopus and shrimp starters are excellent. Don't forget to order the Pastel de nata for dessert. Price are reasonable.
