It didn't look impressive from the outside, but inside was another matter. This basilica doesn't have the over-the-top feel of Notre Dame, but it's very pretty. Lots of nice stained glass as well. Best of all, no crowds.

While visiting Montreal, my wife and I attended mass at St. Patrick's cathedral because the service was in English. The Basilica was a 10 minute walk from our hotel. The interior was beautiful and very large. We felt very at home in this house of worship.

Doesn't compare to St. Joseph's Oratory or Notre-Dame de Montreal Basilique but still lovely. Built in 1847.

This Basilica is located on a high point, surrounde by modern buildings. It Looks a bit simple from the outside, but it is sure worth it to climb up the steps and take a look inside. Especially the stained glass windows are wonderful. In frond of the church there are also some old remains of buildings to be found.

This beautiful church is located on one of the stops on the hop on hop off bus tour, across the road from the arts museum. It has a beautiful silver spire - many churches in eastern Canada have silver spires. There was a service in progress while we were there so couldn't explore the area, so we sat and took... More

The church was very beautiful inside and out. I enjoyed being there for the day. The pipes where nice to hear too inside. It was a very nice trip with my Mom. The Christmas store a few doors down was nice too.

The churches of Rome hold nothing on this basilica. It is simply amazing. The stained glass and the carved altars are unbelievable. And, such a beautiful organ. We had the opportunity to attend the 11:00 Mass which is sung by a lovely choir, Most of the Mass is said in Latin which brought back so many memories of childhood.

Staying in Quartier International

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier International
Designed to connect and beautify unused space, today the Quartier International is like a transversal piece of modern art. The distinctive design flair is most apparent at its focal point, the Palais des Congres, a convention centre and retail space with a multi-coloured glass exterior and an equally bold interior motif. Outdoors too, the Quartier is friendly towards public art exhibits along its stylish, plotted city squares, with extra-wide sidewalks meant to encourage long strolls and shaded benches available for absorbing the atmosphere. Fresh air and promenades characterise the area, from the foliage of Victoria Square to the fountain of Place Jean-Paul Riopelle, while the restaurants along Rue Saint-Antonie Ouest and Metro stops modeled in the Parisian style give off European glamour.
