Wonderful Mass, Beautiful Architecture

Attended a sunday mass while I was in town. I loved the architecture and ceremonial aesthetics of this church. They have mass in English in case you need that.

I decided to make a quick stop inside the church when I passed by it. Initially, I was not expecting much, but when I walked in, I was shocked and surprised by how immense and ornately decorated it is on the inside. A passerby would never know its interior beauty from looking at the exterior. This place is definitely worth... More

This beatiful Basilica is home to the very important Irish Catholics - successors to the thousands of Irish that came to Canada and Montreal during the Famine. The traditional flag of Montreal consists of a cross with the 4 Founding peoples - French, Irish, Scottish and British. The Church has undergone numerous refurbishings and is beautiful. Look for the pew with... More

We visited before Sunday mass, attended service and were pleased with a very traditional but welcoming, warm service. Engaging clergy.

My relatives were visiting from the UK and it was great showing them my city. The Basillica is a must visit and we were allowed to take photos. I recommend adding to your tour and include a walk around Old Montreal as this does fall into that Era.

An historic icon in Montreal's history, host of many famous religious events including the funeral of a Father of Confederation, Thomas D'Arcy McGee. The pew he frequented is still identified. An even more worthy site to visit following its complete restoration 15 years ago.

I think it's worth seeing this splendid Church/Cathedral? It is large but has all the beauty of some European impressors..

I never would have known about this place, had it not been for some reviews posted here. I am SO glad I read them. This was one of the most beautiful places; my 18 year old and I walked in, and we were both blown away by the interior. As there was not a service going on, we were allowed... More

Staying in Quartier International

Neighbourhood Profile
Quartier International
Designed to connect and beautify unused space, today the Quartier International is like a transversal piece of modern art. The distinctive design flair is most apparent at its focal point, the Palais des Congres, a convention centre and retail space with a multi-coloured glass exterior and an equally bold interior motif. Outdoors too, the Quartier is friendly towards public art exhibits along its stylish, plotted city squares, with extra-wide sidewalks meant to encourage long strolls and shaded benches available for absorbing the atmosphere. Fresh air and promenades characterise the area, from the foliage of Victoria Square to the fountain of Place Jean-Paul Riopelle, while the restaurants along Rue Saint-Antonie Ouest and Metro stops modeled in the Parisian style give off European glamour.
