Place d'Armes is a very picturesque area located just next to Notre Dame. The cobbles, the background of the church with all its sounds and the statue all combine to create a very European feel and provide great photo opportunities.

You can't go wrong by visiting this area. We were lucky to stay at the hotel with the same name in this area so it was awesome to walk around and see the sites.

This location is so beautiful and wonderful for pics. The combination of the fountain and church bells was beautiful. Lots of shopping and places to grab a bite to eat are also a bonus.

In the center, there is a monument in memory of Paul de Chomedey, founder of Montreal. This nice statue presents also: Jeanne Mance, Raphael-Lambert Closse, Charles Lemoyne and a Iroquoian warrior. While it was not in function while we were there, this is a fountain...More

Had little stop here in our walking tour. Apparently there are some stories related to the various statues and the kids in the tour were tasked to discover them. Plenty of Gallic inspired architecture and monuments including that of Paul de Chomedey de Maisonneuve, the...More

Take the Metro and get off at Place d'Armes. Walk towards the St-Laurence and you are there. The statues in the middle of the square are really important in the History of Montreal. They are the major player if the foundation of the city. IF...More

The historic centre of Montreal, Vieux-Port is home to
some of the city's most antiquated buildings and
picturesque streets. Along the waters of the St.
Lawrence River, the bank of Old Port features museums,
festivals, food stalls, and outdoor athletics, a
celebrated part of the city that explodes into
fireworks displays on warm summer nights. At its

Most of the parking near the Basilica is street, parallel parking. Also, I know there was at least one small lot a block from the Basilica.
