A beautiful complex! Perfect spot to duck into on a hot or cold day. There is a remnant of the Berlin Wall and a 17th century fountain.

Montreal has several large meeting centers and this is one of them. Lots of big hotels all around and this is definitely downtown, so practical.

Grand interior architectural design! Absolutely beautiful! I can pick a spot and sit inside for a long time just to submerge in its beauty

Montreal's World Trade Center reached out to Americans after Sept. 11th and wanted us to know they were there for us, these are our true allies, and they felt our pain. These are our friends. There's a very special plaque on the interior of the Center with such an emotional message that it can't help but touch the reader deeply.
But this innovative building (located in the International Quarter) had architects thinking so far out of the box that they were nearly on another planet: they built a horizontal skyscraper and joined together Victorian-era commercial buildings in a throroughly imaginative design. This was urban renewal and architectural preservation on steroids.
The steel and glass atrium encases the buildings, uniting all. The "piece de resistance" (i.e. cherry on this delicious sundae) is a stunning fountain and reflecting pool by the escalator. A milky-skinned alabaster-looking lovely reposes amid objects that had some significance in the 1700's when she was brought to (sculptural) life. it was a gift from France.
Sinclair Center in Vancouver is another example of overlaying old treasured buildings with a glass and steel exo-skeleton. Retaining the connection with history is something that makes the sum much greater than the parts.
The World Trade Center also connects to Montreal's Underground City.

The functional and pleasing reuse of landmark buildings makes this worth a look. Not a long visit but a pleasant one.

We visited this place as part of a walking tour and as soon as we walked in it was impressive.
The large open space and the height of the ceiling give a sense of awe.
The reflection pool and the sculpture were designed to impress and it achieved its goal

Firstly, a real live piece of the Berlin Wall stands sentinel and it is quite moving. There are a nice variety of small shops and a delightful food court that gets rather busy during lunchtime as local business people come to be. It is a nice variety in a very clean and enjoyable place to go.

We came here to see the piece of the Berlin Wall that was gifted to the city of Montreal in 1992 to commemorate the city's 350th birthday. It is located on the ground level of the building, where you will also find a food court, coffee shops, and a collection of boutique shops.
