The road detours meant we couldn't stop at the look out and there wasn't much else to see on a cold day. There is a huge cemetery and some walking paths around. Kind of like the Central Park of Montreal. In summer, would be nice to enjoy a picnic or a bike ride around the park.

Make sure to go off the main trails, you get a really nice view of the city/mountain if you go alongside it on the top and bottom. The main trails are extremely busy (leading up to the chateau) and the view is not the best from there anyways - there are plenty of lookouts along the top of the mountain.

This beautiful park adjacent to downtown Montreal id beautiful. There are trails and paths and small roads providing many degrees of difficulty for hikers and gentle inclines for strollers. The view from the top is all worth it.

This is the place to go if you want a bird's eye view of the McGill University campus and Montreal's downtown core and more. On good clear days you can see well beyond the city and into upstate New York.

What a beautiful view and definitely worth going to see. The chalet had nothing inside except for a little shop but the view of Montreal was amazing. We did the stairs and a bunch of walking inside the park, another couple took a taxi. We feel the walk was worth it for sure but be prepared it is a hike... More

The place is gorgeous, and you can see all areas of Montreal from the top. Bus no. 11 will take you there, and from the bus stop you can easily go up the hill.

Staying in Parc du Mont-Royal

Neighbourhood Profile
Parc du Mont-Royal
Montreal was named for this hilly highland, where the tallest spot in the city overlooks its most extensive parkland. The greenspace of Parc du Mont-Royal is an outdoorsman's dream, with hiking trails and nature walks that cater to every season and level of athlete. In the winter, cross-country skiers, tobogganers, and ice skaters don their equipment by Beaver Lake and its pavilion, while the warmer months bring families and competitors to the pitches of Jeanne-Mance Park for tennis, soccer, football, baseball, volleyball, or a dip in the community pool. A perfect spot for a stroll or a picnic, the forest foliage is dotted with sculpture art and offers views of some of Mont-Royal's oldest edifices, the towering St. Joseph's Oratory and the mausoleums of Notre-Dame-des-Neiges. Home to musical celebrations and twilight snowshoeing alike, visit here to walk, write, rest, think, or just be.
