We visited the Green Gables site and enjoyed it very much - especially recommend this for folks who have read any of the books. We also went to Cavendish Beach which is a nice spot for a family day at the beach, but it was our trip to Greenwich Beach that we especially loved. The Greenwich Dunes Trail is phenomenal - an easy trail that opens onto a lake with a floating boardwalk that allows you to cross through the middle of the lake! You walk past large sand dunes and then are deposited on a beautiful sandy beach that is a gem on PEI because it’s less well known and has a long shallow section of water to enjoy. It’s about an hour away from the Cavendish area and so, so worth it!!

We visited multiple sites along the coast within PEI National Park. We purchased a pass for 2 adults totaling $18. One nice aspect of the pass was it allowed us to return until noon the next day since we arrived early afternoon. The views of the coastline were stunning. The drive along the north shore of the island near Cavendish offered ample opportunities to get out of the car and see the red cliffs up close. Visiting PEI National Park is a must when on the island.

This was our first trip to the national park, and Prince Edward Island. We live in Maine, and thought the island would look similar to Maine. It doesn’t! Prince Edward Island has its own look, and is absolutely gorgeous. The beautiful green of the gently rolling Hills is spectacular. The people are very friendly, we didn’t meet anyone who was rude, and the food (especially seafood), was delicious!

Great park!! Amazing beaches to explore. We stayed in Stanhope campground. Quiet campground, clean comfort stations/showers, and there are laundry facilities available to use. Not much in the camp store in the way of gifts/souvenirs/food. Nice playground area, and less than a 5 minute walk to get to the beach/ocean!!! There are stairs directly across the parkway from Stanhope campground to get to the beach and at times we were the only ones walking along the beach!
Also loved going to Cavendish beach Brackley Beach, and Greenwich dunes boardwalk. Sunset views from the beaches are beautiful.

What a lovely national park! We first explored MacKenzies Brook by walking the shoreline to the fallen arch. We also enjoyed an afternoon near Stanhope Beach. The water was cool, but the sand was wide and flat. We spent more time here than we planned, but were so glad we did.

My husband and I explored this park while in PEI. Much of the park was closed at the end of April, including the visitor centers. However, we still were able to see a few things such as lighthouses, red shores, and beaches. Hardly any traffic was a definite plus too.

We stayed at the Cavendish Campground, just outside of Cavendish, PEI. I fell in love with the entire location almost immediately. The campground itself is located just outside of town. There was a main gate house for checking in, which was fast and efficient. The park itself may look a little rough, but with all the storms that go through, there has been some damage to the flora and fauna, but its the location that is incredible. We had a site that was very close to the ocean and the beach. Waking up every morning to the sound of the waves, and the smell of the ocean just can't be beat. The park we clean, and well maintained (again, there was some storm damage, but that's nature), laundry facilities, thoughtful lot layout and nice sites for any size camping equipment.
The town itself was incredible. A complete Florida beach feel to it, on PEI. Loads of shopping and attractions just minutes from this location. I would highly recommend this location to anyone wanting to explore PEI and see what there is to offer. Stunning views, friendly people...an amazing Canadian location that I will go to again.

East of the main drag in Cavendish, there is a stunning 2-3 kms (each way) walk through forest and over a freshwater lake (floating boardwalk!) that gets you to a stunning white sand beach. One of the best trails and beaches in PEI. Very quiet and uncrowded when I went. The floating boardwalk is a real highlight.

Entered at Brackley Beach and drove towards Covehead Harbour.
For such a great, almost wild place there are nowhere near enough parking places along the road.
Then when you get to the car park at Covehead Harbour, you have to pay another $2 to a really grumpy woman on top of the $16.75 entrance fee. Lovely beaches though.

I reviewed the Anne of Green Gables site, Avonlea, elsewhere, but I do wish to say it is a must see and very impressive. We also visited the Oceanview site in the park, and it contained nice views and hiking trails. Very nice!

Hi
We are planning a short trip of 3 days from Moncton to PEI in mid april. What all can we see there during this time of the year? We are interested in scenic drives, natural beauty and walking on the beaches.
Pls suggest.
Written 14 April 2019
The parks on the North shore are very scenic. Hiking trails through sand dunes and wooded areas. great beaches for walking.
Also enjoyed walking on the beach on the east shore near the lighthouse and Souris.

How is the wifi/internet access at Cavendish and PEI in general? I need reliable access for work while visiting.
Written 31 January 2019
Update to my original question. Wifi is extremely slow, to the point I compare it to dial-up. It's also my experience that while camping here and pretty much any campground I've used in the last few years, Wifi is basically useless. I thank everyone for their input as it will be helpful for future travelers who might depend on the internet.

Is booking a beachfront site at PEI National Park Cavendish campground worth it or does the wind and lack of privacy cancel out the benefit of the view. Just wondering if we would be better off booking a site a little further back i.e. site C61?
Written 23 January 2019
The view from those site is amazing, but like you said there is zero privacy and no shelter from the wind. There's also nothing to tie a tarp or a clothesline onto.
We tent at this campground for a week almost every summer. And every time we see tents and kitchen shelters at the beachfront sites blown over by the wind.
We always pick a wooded site so that we have shelter, privacy, and a way to rig up tarps if the weather is bad. It's a great campground and no matter where you are you're not far from the water.
Hope that helps!

If on a cruise ship, is it best to rent a car to get to the National Park? Or take a cab or Uber?
Written 8 January 2019
Rent a car. There is no specific "place" that an Uber can drop you and with $CN, cars are cheap. Put on a good credit card and don't get CDW. For one day, might cost you $70CN.

About how Many kilometres is the trail and is it a loop thanks
Written 30 July 2018
The trail on Robinson Island is a 5 km loop with options for shorter hikes.
Written 31 January 2019
Hello, wondering how long is the hike on the flooring bridge , trying to figure out a timeline , thanks for your help Lori
Written 30 July 2018
The hike out from the parking area along the Greenwich Dunes Trail is not far, just under 5 km. The floating boardwalk portion might be 500m in length.
Written 19 August 2018
Where exactly is the boardwalk where the photo was taken? How long does it take to hike to arrive to that sight that was pictured? Any information will be appreciated.:)
Written 1 March 2018
We will be here 1 day and coming by cruise ship on 9/5/17. Between 8am - 5pm. What would be a great thing to do. Any suggestions. Thanks
