This is a haunted lighthouse!! Really cool spot to stop and take in some Toronto Island history. Would love to go inside but can't. Really liked this spot and a cool lighthouse.

The Gibraltar Point lighthouse on the Toronto Islands is the oldest lighthouse on the Great Lakes and is a pretty cool place for a visit. There is a plaque on it recounting its history and that it is believed to be haunted. One either has to takera ferry ofra water taxi to get to this lighthouse from the Toronto harbour. There are other points of interest nearby on those islands so it is well worth the trip. Ferries currently cost about CAD 8 to and fro and the water taxi is CAD 10. Best to go by water taxi and return by Ferry (no charge on return) so you get the best of both experiences.Plenty of cafes and pubs on the islands to grab a bite and beverage. Alcoholic drinks are also available. Taking you own picnic basket is more economical and beaches are quite safe to swim in most of the time, otherwise just sit and drench in the sun ! smile. smile! Very children friendly trip.

This is a cool lighthouse. Nice tourist attraction on Toronto Islands. .Made from stone mined in Queenston. It is the oldest existing lighthouse on the Great Lakes, and one of Toronto's oldest buildings is also one of its most haunted. Great historic landmark with a great, true, story about the first lighthouse keeper. Legend has it that the lighthouse is haunted by a former lighthouse keeper... Beside of that it is a nice quiet area on Toronto Islands.

The Gibraltar Point Lighthouse holds a great deal of history for Toronto, including being the sight of a murder way way back. That history is unfortunately hidden inside behind a permanently locked door. I would love to be able to climb up, or at the very least take a peek inside. Oh well.

There is however a plaque nearby telling you the history, which is great.

Overall it's good for a 5 minute visit but not much of an attraction per se.

I am a native Torontonian, and I can tell you that the lighthouse is haunted.I was raised in Toronto and my father and I would visit the lighthouse where I was encountered by a paranormal force, It was Muller. I am a rhneg, I sense these things. Very high energy area.

We were biking around the island and found it along the route. It was closed so we couldn't go inside it. There is a plaque explaining the historical aspect of the lighthouse. It was nice to get a few photos. Nice design, well maintained and the area around it is kept very clean.

This is the second oldest lighthouse in Canada and Toronto's oldest building. If you are lucky there is a great ghost story associated with it and it is told well in a spooky location. A fun piece of history.

As part of my walk along the islands, I came to Gibraltar Point lighthouse. It now sits well inland after years of service. It’s also possibly haunted - I didn’t hang around too long just in case.

Ok, if you are passing it’s worth having a look otherwise don’t go out of your way. Small lighthouse with a plaque on the wall telling a short history of the building. Would have been nice to go up it but unfortunately it is not open to the public.

Really is not much to see and not so special point, but if you walk from one part to another on this island you can see it too.
