The Princess of Wales Theatre is a 2000-seat playhouse built by the father and son producing team of David and Ed Mirvish, just a block away from their historic Royal Alexandra Theatre. The Princess of Wales is the first privately owned and financed theatre built in Canada since 1907 - and the first anywhere in North America in over 30 years. Construction began on August 6, 1991, and the building opened to the public with the musical Miss Saigon on May 26, 1993.The theatre was built with maximum flexibility in mind. Its stage is one of the widest and deepest in North America - large enough to accommodate the most spectacular theatrical productions - and its technical facilities are state-of-the-art.

I loved when the Spanish flamenco dancing started! We took the theatre/dinner package and it was excellent! The food at Kit Kat (restaurant of our choice amongst the list) was very, very good.. Loved the show afterwards.

Last night was my most recent visit to Princess of Wales Theatre. I've been there several times in the past few years. The front 10+ rows of Orchestra/Floor seats are below the stage. The seats are incredibly uncomfortable. And the HVAC system is inefficient; we...More

...Comfortable seating, great sound and sight lines from the orchestra, friendly and attentive staff. Audio assist devices were available free of charge, but not really necessary for normal age-related hearing difficulties. Reasonably priced parking right under the theatre. The performance was excellent! ...A gifted cast...More

Outstanding show! Great cast, songs, dancing, and the surprise audience participation was just delightful! The clever set design and scene changes/usage was just magical, the costumes were stunning, and the solos, both vocally and dance-wise, just fantastic. Bravo to the vocal coaches and choreographer and...More

If you want a boy meets girls, loses girl gets girl, with excellent voices and good dancing, it's a fun evening. The humor is predictable and marginal, so is the plot. However, it is a welcome relief from the angst-ridden modern musicals. Some very good...More

What is the dress code for the theatre? We are only using carry on luggage and I am wondering if I need another pair of shoes in addition to my tennis shoes?

As far as I remember, there is just popcorn, candy and icecream bars sold. We have taken in snacks because of the childrens allergies and there never has been a problem.

Parking is in City lots - best way? park at a subway station and take the subway - so much easier and stress free - 2 block walk from the St. Andrew (King St W) subway station
