The Toronto Island ferry boats are a great escape from the city. The old boats are a pleasure to ride on and offer fantastic views. Their is lots of room on board the boats and nothing to be nervous about for anyone that does like the water. The ferries have plenty of life jackets and travel very smoothly. A classic... More

I have travelled by TO ferry many times. It's 7 dollars for a return trip which lasts just under 10 mins. The service is frequent and reliable. You can bring your bike on the ferry. It does get very crowded in Summer and there can be huge lineups.

Used it during winter, they were on time and professional. Offers a great view to the skyline of Toronto.

Great views of the city waterfront. Cooling breezes. Lovely 2 hour (there and back allowing for line-ups) half day (with a walk or snack break) or day outing especially on a hot summer day. Avoid line-ups by buying ferry tickets on-line!

The boats are great old timers (not modern catamarans), with plenty of room to move around. It is worth going across to the Island by ferry, just to see the Toronto Skyline from the water. But actually while you're at the island have a wander around there are well. The waiting areas don't have much to offer by way of... More

A wonderful simple and highly enjoyable boat trip. You get a great view of the city from the lake and thus a wonderful way to take photos! We went to Centre Island to go to Centreville, but that's another review. An added bonus is watching the planes from the Island Airport taking off and landing above you.

Even if you are short on time in Toronto, you cannot miss a trip to the Toronto Islands on one of the ferries. Go to the Centre Island where you will find a small amusement park with fun rides for the kids. Its even fun for adults who can visit some attractions on this old-fashioned train. There is also a... If you are only for a short time in Toronto, a trip to the Toronto Islands on one of the ferries is a must. The busiest ferry is going to Centre Island where you will find a quaint little amusement park complete with many fun rides for the little ones. A trip on the CI railroad is even fun for... More

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
