I finally got to see a performance at the Four Seasons Centre, in this case the Nutcracker, and can say I was thoroughly impressed with the facility. Great sight lines and great sound, so there can be no distractions from the performers. Let me begin by complementing the orchestra for a wonderful rendition of the music. I am not in... More

My husband and I went to see the Nutcracker performed by the National Ballet of Canada and its students. We both really enjoyed the performance. I think my husband was surprised he enjoyed it as much as he did. Everyone did a great job and the costumes were fantastic. The tickets were pricey but there really isn't a bad seat... More

Visited the Four Seasons Centre for the first time to see the Nutcracker on New Year's Eve. Wonderful and bright lobby, hard to find washrooms, beautiful hall, loved the hardwood floor. Great sound from the orchestra pit at row K, 7th row. Much better than the old O'Keefe Centre/Sony Centre that the ballet and opera used prior to 2006. Great... More

We went here to check out our chances of getting 4 tickets to the Nutcracker performace. Although in their website they said that the Standing Room only is to be sold at 11 am (when the box office opens) on the day of the performance, it guarantees only 60 tickets for standing room. Here is my suggestion: SInce anyway there... More

It was another great performance of The Nutcracker by the National Ballet of Canada. The center is easy to access and laid out in a simple manner. Although it would be nice to have more seat for story time, the attendant did a good job at in ensuring everyone's safety. The amphitheater is modern and lens itself well for this... More

Nothing to complain about other than the lack luster catered food. The sandwich was dry and cold but the cookie was good. Prices for food seemed a little high ($15 for a small sandwich, water and cookie). The staff are very helpful and attentive.

Amazing views from the Gold Wing. The Nutcracker has become an annual Christmas tradition. Easy to navigate the multiple floors and never have to wait in line for a beverage.

The relatively new Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts is miles ahead of the old venues in Toronto. Easily accessible walking if you are staying downtown or by public transit. You don't, in fact, have to go out in the rain if coming by TTC subway. The acoustics are good whether you're in the expensive or inexpensive seats. There's... More

This modern theater maintains the essence of all opera houses: the lobby has plenty of balconies overlooking the common areas to people-watch other opera-goers. Underneath fogged glass staircases are plenty of bars serving wine and refreshments, plus large windows to watch the city. Inside the U-shaped theater, the acoustics are incredible. Even though it seats 2,000+ people, the theater feels... More

The seating is wonderful - no matter where you sit. The wood is gorgeous! Such a unique plan. Great for the ballet and opera to have a home. Toronto theatre goers are fortunate. I love the pre-talks, informing the audience about the production.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
