The Distillery District is an internationally acclaimed village of brick-lined streets and dozens of vibrantly restored Victorian Industrial buildings. It’s one of Ontario’s hottest tourist attractions and home to live theatres, galleries, fashion, design and jewelry boutiques, unique cafes and award-winning restaurants. It’s all completely closed to traffic and just a few minutes walk from downtown Toronto.

The Restoration of this old Distillery came out as an incredible success ... a real master piece. So much fun to stroll around the buildings and the small streets...lots of shops, cafes, restaurants...definitely lots of pleasure. You will find the usual crowd of tourists but also plenty of locals who seem to come to relax during weekends . Great place!.

I was there with one of my friend, the place is great, nice little local stores to shop antiques or homemade stuff. It was pleasant but after an hour we were already done, not too big.

We loved the old buildings and unique architecture. The attractions - shops and restaurants, however, were not anything spectacular. We had a decent meal at El Catrin, but it was very crowded. Perhaps the sun, the heat, and lack of attractions combined to make this stop a bit disappointing.

This area is fun to visit with little shops and restaurants. The architecture is interesting to see.

Great patios and solid restaurant choices from Mexican to french to Italian to brew pub pub fare. Great for families and romantics alike. .Soulpepper is one of the best theater companies in Canada .Dont miss the lovely balzacs coffee house or the great fashion options of john Fluevog and Gotstyle .

I have been attending the annual Christmas Market every year since it started. Every year it gets better and bigger, however this year it was so busy there were line ups everywhere for doors and drink and the number of visitors was restricted at the gates. The planners need to work with the merchants to come up with better logistics,... More

The Distillery District is a great example of what Toronto would have looked like in the late 1800's to early 1900's. The buildings have all been preserved and reconstructed using materials that would have been used originally. The little alleyways are filled with pubs, restaurants, art gallerys, cafes, chocolate shops, gelaterias, and other stores selling unique items. It is a... More

Lovely part of Toronto. Some lovely shops and restaurants with a relaxed vibe. The ice cream and chocolate shops is definitely worth a visit.

Walked thru the district this past weekend to grab some food and a pint. Well worth the walk thru, there is something for everyone and plenty of pubs and restaurants.

The Distillery is one of our favourite family destinations, especially for a great meal. Restaurants there are fabulous and very family friendly. El Catrin (Mexican) in particular - crazy awesome decor, kids love it, huge fire pit eating space outdoors. There are a lot of very interesting one-off stores to find unique items. Great for just wandering and having a... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
