Amazing artworks and happy for you to just look!

We went on foot to the Distillery District on a cold and windy day and our greeting when we wandered in from the cold was warm and friendly. The staff were delighted to allow us to just browse their amazing displays of paintings, glass and metal sculptures and the remains of the original building, The atmosphere is perfect for the... We held some corporate presentations as well as a catered dinner and dance in the Stone Gallery space in September. Our clients and guests were very impressed. You are surrounded by art in a wonderful space which is so conducive to a group under 50 people. Its not far from the heart of downtown Toronto, a 15 minute walk or... More

The cooperage space is a perfect place for an audience of any age. Their art is very modern and their staff are very accommodating. I hosted a presentation and networking event in Oct, 2014 and It was all I could have imagined. Not only did I love it but our guests were really impressed. Overall, I am very pleased with... More

My Partner and I booked this amazing venue for our wedding. It turned out to be the most wonderful day we could ever dream about. We had family and friends fly in from around the globe. They were blown away with the ambiance and breath taking venue. This was for our special day. They still talk about how this was... More

My daughter and her husband recently held a reception at the Thompson Gallery. The space is wonderful. They have kept all the character of the original building and the art work on display was excellent. The gallery staff on hand was knowledgeable and attentive. All in all a good experience and an excellent venue.

I had the extreme pleasure of having an event at Thompson Landry Gallery. It was a very special occasion ( my wife's special birthday ) and it turned out to be the most memorable evening of the year in all of the guests minds. The space is very sophisticated and showcases contemporary Canadian artists. The art added a very special... More

My husband and I were given the suggestion of booking the Thompson Landry Gallery for our non-traditional wedding reception, which was styled as a cocktail party. The minute we first walked through the doors we knew we had found the place. The low mood lighting, exposed brick walls and multiple connecting rooms - not to mention the amazing and colourful... The dark light, punkish art and gallery sized pieces at affordable prices makes this gallery in the Distillery district a permanent temptation whenever I visit Toronto. The work of Yoakim Bellangier - who paints his thoughtful reflections on figure, gender and age on sheet metal - is a particular reason I keep returning.

Attended a big group business dinner here. Venue has potential with interesting artwork. Initially things were good. Plenty of servers tending to get folks drinks. Dinner was a plated menu with minimal choices. Still it was served very slow with considerable time between courses. To make matters worse, the servers disappeared during the main course. Most of my table had... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
