There isnt much at all to see as the little area is modernized. Oh and don't follow Google map! Took me round to nowhere! Head to Gladstone Ave on Dundas West instead. The cafes are mostly not prominently light up so unless you walk close enough else you wouldnt know there's one there. Went searching for the nice pastry place... More

Was visiting all the ethnic areas Toronto has to offer. Was excited to see this one since I've never been to a Portugal area. Wanted to see and taste the food. Was out of the area before I realized I was in it. Very tiny. Didn't even stop. Just kept going. Would have been a disappointment if I went just... More

My partner who is from Portugal really disliked this neighbourhood. Too many Brazilian places and most of the establishments were all fake. Also, many of the stores were closed on a Saturday afternoon. Probably would not come back again.

I used to live in this hood a few years ago and go back every once in awhile. It's changing with quite a few trendy non Portuguese restaurants opening up. They attract a young hip prefessional crowd. Most of the old school restaurants are gone or have tried to upscale....a shame. The Lakeview Diner is still there and worth a... More

Great little neighborhood to visit full of Portuguese shops and cafes offering authentic food and groceries. We had a good time and parking in possible.

If you're in the neighbourhood it's worth a visit but I wouldn't go out of your way. The bakeries are really good, especially one further down the end near the 7/11 (can't remember the name). Very large and has a massive selection of foods. Might be better in the warmer months, during winter everything is closed and no one is... More

This little portuguese enclave in Toronto is worth a visit if you like to try fantastic south european food, mainly from Portugal. You can find, in Dundas Street, the famous portuguese cake (pastel de nata) and a lot of restaurants that offer very good food. You can also listen to the tipical portuguese musid called "Fado" while having diner in... More

I'm biased - this is the neighbourhood I call home. But - I call it home for a reason. The tree-lined residential streets are beautiful for exploring Toronto's downtown architecture, while the journey along Dundas is sure to stimulate your curiosity. The neighbourhood boasts a large number of cafés (some of the city's best), great restaurants (the Ossington strip is... More

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
