The Young Centre for the Performing Arts was envisioned by George Brown College and Soulpepper Theatre Company to be a home to Toronto's arts community and a destination for all theatre lovers. Anchored by the presence of Soulpepper's year-round repertory season and George Brown College's Theatre School, the Young Centre provides a home for both the leading artists of today, as well as the arts leaders of tomorrow. When you step through the doors of the Young Centre you can feel a difference. The space is alive with discussion and debate. There is a kinetic energy fueled by the passion of performers, students, and audiences. There is a musical hum to designers, choreographers, directors and musicians collaborating. There is a rhythm set by the theatre, dance, music and poetry that fills each of the spaces. This is the environment in which we get to work, play, create and share. And you belong here.

To complement Tafelmusik’s Messiah, the next day we take in Soulpepper’s annual A Christmas Carol in Toronto’s Distillery District which was packed with people celebrating winter. John Jarvis, who plays Marley’s ghosts, reminds us at the beginning “that this is a ghost story” and quickly...More

We went here to see a fun production of Edward Albee's The Goat, which we loved. The centre is in the distillery district and is a beautiful setting for a theatre, which was intimate and had a high-quality of production.

We went to see A Doll's House performed by the Culpepper Group and it was fabulous. The facility has three small theaters, and the sight lines and acoustics were great. The seating became somewhat uncomfortable after about an hour, but not horrible. There is a...More

In 20 years of regular theatre-going in Toronto, Soulpepper has been our only consistently excellent experience. There's a great variety; from classics to translations, adaptations and restated fringe plays. Every production has been outstanding and manages to connect with the audience in an authentic, intelligent,...More
