Neighbourhood: Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.

We were only allowed to walk around the main floor which was interesting. The staff were very nice & answered my question about paranormal activities, saying they had heard about some things that were peculiar. The exterior is incredible to behold.

The exterior of this grand historic building, constructed in Romanesque style in 1889 (completed in 1899), with a prominent clock tower, is impressive and one can spend a good deal of time admiring the details of its design. The building appeared to be locked, but we pushed open a heavy door to discover that it was indeed open. There were strict security procedures in order to enter, as the building now operates as a court house - the largest and busiest in all of Canada. The magnificent interior with its mosaic floor, columns, gargoyles, old elevator shaft, caricatures of Councillors, staircase and stained glass window was well worth a visit.

The Old City Hall is located in Nathan Phillips Square which is a major tourist location because of the TORONTO sign.

The Old City Hall is located on one side of the square and the newer city hall is on an adjacent side.

The old building is really lovely with some beautiful architecture which reminded me a bit of the nearby university of Toronto buildings.

Worth checking out if you admire architecture.

Circumnavigate the building to look at all of the detail then rest on the front steps. It has quite a story and is stunning to take in.

The old hall is superior to the new hall, especially if you see it at night. The building is beautifully illuminated. Access is convenient as there is a subway station within walking distance.

The old city Hall is one of the nicest landmark of the economic capital of Canada.
You will never get lost by using it as the center of your walks and strolls. Its belltower can be heard every hour, at night too, and is so nice to hear the bell!
