We took ferry from Queens quay to Centre Island Toronto. The view of downtown skyline while in the boat was so mesmerizing. We were late to go, we must have started early to explore more in the island.

A lovely little island to walk around. In the summer you can rent bikes but just be sure about the month you are going and whether they are still open. As the island is on the lake (Obviously!) it can be quite open to the elements so wrap up as it ab have quite a breeze. Lovely view of the... More

Downtown Toronto has lots to see and a boat cruise around the islands is so scenic. Lake Ontario and the Vista of Toronto is beautiful. Take a tour and then take a walk along the Boardwalk, visit the Artists studios and have lunch at one of the patios overlooking the water. There are quite a few. If interested in a... More

High water levels in Lake Ontario have resulted in Toronto Islands being closed to public til around end of June. Check on TTC website whether ferries are running before planning your day. Otherwise it's a lovely short ferry ride. Consider heading to Ward's Island first. There is a small community of cottages there and a couple of low key restaurants.... More

We took an out of town customer who is athletic and outgoing for an amazing bike ride around the island. We used our own bikes, and took them on the ferry. We started at hanlans point, and toured the whole island, ending at wards. We had a delightful lunch at the rectory cafe. The views and photo "ops" are too... More

Bring your bike, bring your friends, bring booze. There's a nude beach. Cold water. Keep track of the ferry schedule.

I try to go once every summer with my boyfriend. We rent some bikes and tour the island. It's always such a fun day for us. I love seeing the little cottages there and visiting the beaches and seeing center vill. So sad that the place is flooded now. I really hope it can be restored for the summer.

The Toronto Islands have been closed to visitors and the ferries do not run to Hanlan's Point or Centre Island. High water has flooded much of the shoreline and the area around the ferry docks. The high water is expected to peak in mid June and then subside in July.

Had a lovely but very cold cruise around the islands, with full commentary. Could sit down in the warm or go up on top deck. Worth while little cruise

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
