The station it self is very nice, although it is undergoing remodeling inside and outside so one can't see much, but it is very convenient to the harbor, the center of town, and the stadium. Very easy to get trains to Niagara Falls from here, and also to get the UP Express to the airport. The station is very clean... More

How to get from Toronto Pearson airport to Toronto centre? When we arrived to Toronto airport, we had about 9 hours of layover. We decided to go to Toronto centre. We were at terminal 1 where the station for the UP Express is located. We found it by following transportation signs for link to city. The station is few minutes... More

I feel like the station has been under construction for too long. I was last through a year ago and the Via area still feels dark, dismal and partially destroyed. A bad first impression! There's limited seating, and no shopping or restaurants. The main station hall is nice, but it too is under repair. The concourses and pedestrian walkways are... More

The central hub for GO Bus, GO train, UPX rail, VIA/AMtrak, and TTC Toronto. The catch? A slew of perpetual seeming construction makes directions and accessibility somewhat labyrinthine and patience is required. Actually, it can be aggravating! Budget extra time if you're looking at tight connections. Give yourself 15-30 minutes to navigate if you're coming thru for the first time.... More

Toronto Union station is a wonderful train station. The problem now is that lots of construction is going on at the moment!!! There is a very good Business class launch, with soft drinks and hot drinks. The signs are very easy to follow. Bathroom was very clean and very nice.

There is not necessarily a lot to see here outside of the Great Hall, but this compares to other train stations in the world to understand a different side of the side. Getting into a tucked away spot for morning of afternoon rush gives a different outlook on the comings and goings of the city.

This gorgeous old building is currently a maze of construction with no rhyme or reason. It is hard to find anything in Union Station at the moment.

Union station is the hub of the city and easy to connect with the GO train, VIA Rail and finally the Union Pearson Express that can get you to the airport in 20 minutes. There is still a lot of construction but you can easily find where you need to go.

Beautiful building but not traveler friendly. Stairs and crowds - had to maneuver with luggage. Signage confusing. Subway even less traveler friendly. It will be great when it's done though.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
