The staff were friendly and helpful. The lights and sound were amazing. Ladies were free before midnight and men were $30, or $25 early admission.

I've been twice since they re-opened. The main floor is awesome! The centre floor is set-up perfectly for sound from a DJ or band. The bands I saw had the place dancing like crazy! The lounge area had nice booths and lots of poles. The several bars are well stocked and I didn't have long wait times. The second time... More

First time back after the reno, looks great sound even better. Seems smaller but part of the floor was blocked off, guess it is not done. Awesome to stand outside between sets and enjoy the view. I thought smoking and Vaping where banned from patios , at least the Lake breeze blew it away. New look is great sound system... More

i had the most terrible time at sound academy. i had purchased 2 tickets for the floor both 104 for my boyfriends birthday. upon arrival we were promptly directed to the right section. once we were in the booth ,one of the two groups who were already settled in the booth ( and quite drunk) decided they did not like... I was part of a corporate event and the music sounded really good and it's a large space for a big gathering with multiple areas of interest for everyone to spread around and not feel on top of each other. Beautiful views looking over to downtown!!! Like a postcard!

We went to a Mavado concert. I bought VIP tickets. I asked the people working there, no one seemed to know anything and directed us to the wrong place. It was crowded, no where to sit unless you were paying $500.00 to drink, the sound system was crap and you couldn't even hear or see him unless you were tall... More

Too much weed heads, including cigarette. Everyone there smoke and no one stop them. The staffs are rude. I stop going there & plan on reporting them to the city of Toronto. As I said before too much smoking.

Will never return to this venue. Sound academy? Terrible sound. Stage is set so low it's hard to see the performers. Staff is rude. Fellow concert goers wouldn't stop talking. Was really looking forward to hearing James Bay and the venue ruined the experience. Don't waste your money to see anyone performer here.

Went to see my absolute favourite band, and the venue ruined the experience completely! if the show is sold out they sold to many tickets. i was nearly stampeded, and feared for my girlfriends life, who was nearly trampled and knocked down. further more i witnessed 12 people faint from heat and exhaustion and i was only in the 8-10th... Saw Twenty One Pilots last night. The venue is cute. Sound was okay. BIG problem was stage was too low. General admission floors. Don't have a stage only four feet high. Raise it up. Raise it up.

Staying in Downtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown
At the heart of Toronto, Downtown is the destination for cheap eats and fast fashion. Cut through by hip and trendy Yonge Street, the vibe here is young, with a strong student influence from the Ryerson University Campus. As a result, the Downtown area is always in flux: undergoing the construction of new facilities, with fresh retail spaces and pop-up cafes. Home to Toronto's largest indoor shopping mall, a number of vintage cinemas, and a healthy nightlife centered on the area's Distillery District bar and clubs near the East End, it's both an easygoing daytime spot and a popular party place after sunset. It also features some of Toronto's best outdoor landmarks, including Yonge-Dundas Square and the Nathan Phillips Square: perfect for a concert, a skate, or a relaxing sit-down.
