I did not know what to expect when informed by my Canadian relatives that we were going to Centre Island. We went to the port and was stunned to see several long queues with people joining all the time. It was the height of summer, but it was surprising how quickly when the boat arrived that the queue shrunk to... More

Love taking the ferry to Center Island. Lots to do with a family or friends. Reasonably priced food options. Good biking trails. The amusement park is small, but great for young children.

Centre Island never gets old...wait, no...it actually is quite old and feels more like a county fair than Disney Land. There are old crappy rides for kids, a petting zoo and lots of greenery. I love that is feels so laid back and hope they don't add ginormous roller coasters. Perfect just the way it is.

The kids love the amusement park which is great for younger kids (2-12) and the petting zoo. The ferry ride over is less than 10 minutes and quite nice on a warm day. I highly recommend Centre Island for anyone looking for a fun family activity.

A great escape from the big bad city. Green, quiet and relaxed. Petting farm animals are fun - albino peacock, crazy llama, feisty ginger cat is friendly to kids. Lts of box hedging, a rarity in Ontario.

On a road trip to Toronto, our group decided to take the ferry over to Center Island. We had researched it and with great reviews, decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed AT ALL by the beautiful nature whether the lush flower beds, natural trees, the water and wildlife. It was so enjoyable! We rented kayaks for... More

It is a really activity for the day. We took the ferry took Wards and walked to Hanlon's point. It was lovely. Lots of people having picnics. We stopped for a bit to eat at the little rectory on the water. I would recommend the Toronto island for a day's outing.

Staying in Downtown West

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown West
Downtown West is home to Toronto's gorgeous Inner Harbor, and is a must-visit for lovers of art and the outdoors. The area's rich cultural heritage is celebrated by a number of monuments and museums, giving the neighborhood a mature feel. As a premier destination for modern art, people here stroll through the cool contemporary pieces at the Power Plant, enjoy the outdoor installations along Queen's Quay and Canoe Landing, and picnic among the zany designs of the Toronto Music Garden. The waterfront itself is often suffused with bikers and joggers, and the harbor is always packed with classic ships with masts raised. The vintage boats and ferries to the Toronto Islands make for a charming contrast against Downtown West's backdrop of skyscrapers, condos, and food trucks serving up hot, fresh fare to locals on the go. The area has a peaceful energy, and is popular with tourists and Torontonians alike.
