The Royal Ontario Museum (ROM) is among the world’s leading museums of natural history and world cultures. In combining a universal museum of cultures with that of natural history, the ROM offers an unusual breadth of experience to our audiences from around the world. We realize more acutely now that nature and humanity are intertwined, and the ROM offers many examples in its collections and programs of these fundamental relationships.

We came here to see the Chiuly exhibit, which was a nice compendium of bits from all his exhibits and we really enjoyed it. The tatoos exhibit seemed a bit sparse and I did not think that was worth the extra price. The general parts of the museum are well worth seeing. Great dinosaur bones exhibit that the kids should... There is a great deal to see and there are lots of kids everywhere! The museum is very clean and easy to navigate. The gift shop is great, too, although expensive, but there are some good deals to be had. We had lunch in the cafeteria which has a wide variety of selections (a bit costly for a cafeteria, but... We have been members of the ROM for years and we go often. We went with our sister and brother in law as they had never been. The Chihully Glass blowing exhibit was really really cool to see and was a highlight for us. Our guests enjoyed the entire museum, well as much as we can see in one day.... More

First of all, I have to say that parking for this place is a royal headache. We finally found the parking lot, which is across the street, and BEHIND the buildings facing the museum. It isn't stated in any of the travel guides. Secondly, give yourself at least 3 hours to visit this museum. We only had about an hour... More

Dear Amy, Thank you for leaving a very comprehensive review of your visit to the Museum. Our apologies about parking. It really is a wonderful museum but somewhat confusing in terms of trying to get to the area you want. We never did find the bust of Cleopatra & could not find anyone to help us. Our efforts in finding the restaurant area were also confusing as directions are not clearly marked.

We did city pass so the Rom was included. We were there for about 2.5-3 hours and did 1.3 floors. We could have done a full day and still not seen everything. Nicely curated exhibits and hands on options for kids in some areas. We were disappointed that the city pass did not include all exhibits ... Tattoo and chihully... More

This is a great place for rainy days and hot days. Went to this museum on the hottest day of the week and it's very well air conditioned. There are a 4 levels filled with loads of different things. The new Tattoo Exhibition is extra though but not sure on the price.

One of the best museum we have visited in Toronto. The wide collection and displays are so easy to follow and we enjoyed every moment there. Do approach the very friendly information counter staff to plan your visit for maximum time efficiency before you wonder off into the exhibits. Be prepared for the very cold air conditioning inside.

Staying in Midtown

Neighbourhood Profile
Midtown
Midtown is a dynamic part of Toronto with some of its most stylish high-rise residences and heritage buildings. The area sees busy shoppers with bag-laden arms balancing lattes in paper cups as they travel from one luxury brand to the next, taking advantage of the proximity of high-end shops. The reflecting pools, jogging trails, and nature treks of the Rosehill Revision are always a hub of outdoor activity, and after a workout from either running or splurging, many take advantage of the spas and massage parlors Midtown has to offer. Away from the bakeries, boutiques, and glamorous old theaters of the district's center, locals use the weekend to embrace the more suburban feel of Midtown's parks, tennis courts, outdoor markets, and the manicured grounds of Casa Loma, while families indulge the area's state-of-the-art playground and learning facilities. Of course, no high-brow district is complete without a healthy counter-culture: Midtown boasts some of the wildest street art and full-wall graffiti of any neighborhood in Toronto.
