Showed up when their own website said they would open and told there was a "special Canadian event" happening later that day and there would be no entrance for the many tourists who were there at 10 a.m. My hotel looked at the website again...More

We showed up mid morning this summer at Fort William to enjoy another great Parks Canada Historical site only to discover the Fort closed to host a "Karnival". Pay extra. No historical events. No tours. Just a big commercial party. Really? Oh, you can go...More

Spent the good part of the day wandering around the beautiful grounds and listening to all the amazing interpreters! They rocked.

Actors were quite good. Explained a lot about life in 1816. Very interesting and fun. Highly recommend you visit.

We were here for 4 hours (up until closing) and could have easily spent at least one more. Our 6-year-old loved it and is asking to go back. We ate at the Canteen and the beef stew was surprisingly tasty. Being honest, though, some of...More

Old Fort William as it once was called in my opinion is the best tourist attraction in Ontario and one of the best in Canada. The Historical enactments are so real. The historical characters stay in character which make you feel you are experiencing life...More

The interpreters went out of their way to provide a very positive guest experience for the visitors. As much as possible the guides interacted with the guests providing information about life in the 1816 period of the Fort. While visiting the Fur Trading Store my...More

I have been to Fort William several times since the late 80's. Not much has changed in that time. The information center has been renovated and they now offer a shuttle from the center to the actual fort. It is a nice 10 minute walk...More

We went on a Tuesday with 2 kids under age 4 and it was perfect. We had a light stroller for our littlest child and could access most areas. Some buildings required stairs but there were a lot with ramps that we could still access....More

Great site. But the lack of historical interpreters and activities, make me question the rather lofty admission cost. I get the feeling it has experienced some sort of government budget cuts.

At least 2 to 3 hours. Take your time, enjoy the farm and aboriginal encampment. Many buildings and stories to be told by the actors.

Sometimes there are sponsored events outside the fort by the parking areas. I would check the event schedule to see what might be happening in July. Enjoy your visit!
