The view from Hillcrest Park puts Thunder Bay into perspective. There is a spectacular view across the bay to the Sleeping Giant and then to the passage at the foot as well as a great view of Mount MacKay to the south. Sunrise and sun set is great for watching the light change colours across the scenery.

The view from Hillcrest Park is hard to beat. There is also a nice little playground for the kids to play at.

We visited this with my sister who visits here regularly and had mentioned that it was a must see. The weather was not exactly in our favour, but I enjoyed it.

I grew up in this area. I lived on the street just below the park, so I had an amazing playground. Even though I am in my 60's I still go there regularly, with my grandson. We love to check out the ships in the harbour using our binoculars. Play areas for kids, great place to grab a take out... More

This is the place to go if you want a great view of the sleeping giant. Enjoy the flower gardens in the summer - they are beautifully maintained. The children playground as high quality equipment, however it's on the small size and geared towards younger children. A great place to meet for a play date with young children, a picnic... More

By far the best overall view of the city of Thunder Bay! Hillcrest Park has a children's playground and an adjacent Rose Garden! Great for viewing the city day or night in any season! Enjoy!

Beautiful gardens (in summer) and great view of city all year long. The Sleeping Giant can be seen in the distance and in summer lake freighters are everywhere.

Best view of the city, harbour and Sleeping Giant. You will be facing East, so sunrise or daytime viewing is best. In the evening, the lights of the city are worth photographing as well. Hillcrest Park features a sunken garden that has been the subject of post cards as well, and don't forget to grab a photo of the bell!... More
