An interesting 3 hours spent at The Big Nickle. "Timber" our underground tour guide did an excellent job explaining the hazards and dangers of mining plus she coped very well encouraging young children who were in the group to participate as much as possible thus...More

Great experience to get a sense of being underground. They have a great Halloween haunt each year but it's too scary for children. Great sunset at the big nickel as well.

My kids (and let's be honest, myself) are great fans of Minecraft, so an opportunity to go down a REAL MINE couldn't be missed. Was not cheap, not really very deep underground, but we were not disappointed, had a great tour guide who took us...More

Went on the tour and enjoyed it. It's been largely updated since we were there in the 90s. The kids enjoyed the indoor mine area and science exhibits. It was rainy the day we were there so we couldn't go outside. Our only criticism was...More

We stopped at the Big Nickel to get the obligatory family photo as you can't say you've been to Sudbury without being to the Big Nickel. Parking was a bit more than I expected at $6.00 but it wasn't a deal breaker. We did not...More

The Big Nickel did not exist on my 1st cross country road trip but was always a “Must See” from Highway 17 on all my succeeding trips. My wife and I had just completed a cross country road trip and decided to return to Sudbury...More

The mine tour was unique- however teenagers (unless interested in such) will likely be bored. There aren't many hands on activities for them compared with science north. Most of the other activities (outside of the tour) are... More
