We have been attending Festival plays for 40+ years. We took in two here - each a serious drama with terrific acting but nonetheless, quite taxing in their themes. The theatre in the round concept works, keeping everyone close to the actors, but the seats are unpleasant and dangerous for those with difficulty ascending and descending the steep inclines.

We saw two plays in the newly designed Tom Patterson this year. Both were made more memorable by the way the stage, now surrounded by seats on all sides, brings the actors even closer to the audience. The front row seats are still the best - as long as you don't mind being in full view of the rest of... More

The theatre is on Lakeside Drive a very pleasant 10-minute walk along the shore from either from the Festival Theatre to the east or from downtown to the west. If you get there early you can park for free next to the theatre, but free spaces are limited. The theatre is newly configured in the round, and sightlines seem generally... More

The Tom Patterson was reconfigured in the round this year. Worked great for the first part of Breath of Kings. Look forward to part 2 today. Should work well for Shakespeare, anxious to see how it works for other playwrights. This is an iconic house, the first in the Stratford festival, but it's transitioned well. Kudos on a successful experiment.

Saw "All my Sons (Sins)", High tragic drama and an excellent performance from each member of the cast in this intimate environment. Highly recommend!

Saw Rebellion, and LOVED it! If I had known how terrific it was we would have done Redemption the same day, but I was afraid to commit because I hadn't seen great reviews, and I thought 6 hours in one day might be too much! I should have done it anyway. Wonderful experience! It is an amazing gift to have... More

I was pleased to see that they took this theatre and renovated it into a theatre in the round. I find that it is way better than before. As always, the quality of Stratford plays is absolutely wonderful and this is just another fabulous way to see Stratford theatre!

The performances were first-rate as usual, the best of the four we saw in this theatre being a stunningly effective All My Sons, by Arthur Miller. The theatre itself has changed slightly for the worse. By closing up the south wall and putting seats there, the Festival management has clearly decided to increase the size of the audience at the... All My Sons is only fair. Over-directed and over-acted. No true pathos achieved. The music choices were completely bizarre. Breath of Kings was a total waste of time and money.

We saw the evening performance of All My Sons in the very intimate Tom Patterson Theatre. Excellently acted, directed, and designed production. Very compelling and moving performances. The arena format (with the audience on four sides of the playing space) was awesome for this play. My 11 year old daughter loved the performance as well. Side note: please remember to... More
