This is an interesting small town museum packed with a good collection of exhibits about the town history. Fascinating look at how the town grew to today. Can easily spend a couple hours if you read the exhibits. Recommended.

The museum boasts a permanent gallery that outlines the history of the city of Peterborough, and also has a special exhibit that is designed by students from Fleming's Museum program. The special exhibit is changed several times per year. Admission is by donation, and there is a lovely small gift shop right at the entrance as well.

This is not a stuffy, old museum. I guess I have that mindset from my childhood, but this venue certainly dispelled the notion. It is very professionally put together, and if you get a chance for the special tour of the storage area, you are in for a treat. The Hallowe'en exhibit was a bit gruesome, but extraordinary at the... More

It explains the history of Peterborough. The Irish settlers who came here. Also it tells the story of the Indians who were first here. The old pictures are great. Each year they also have a special exhibit like the AVRO ARROW, etc..

My wife and I visited on a Saturday. We really liked the collections of artifacts. I especially liked looking at the old photos of downtown from the 1890s. Also some good artifacts explaining the older industries that once were the backbone of the economy.

This museum shows maps of the early city and where the different immigrant groups settled. It has models of the bunks on the boats that brought the immigrants, bunks that sometimes held a family of 13 people. There were lists of the passengers families, and the way Peter Robinson (for whom Peter's Borough was named, got them settled. There are... More

Very interesting about the history of the area. Lots of artifacts dating back to 1800's. There is also a very interesting archive building with some interesting memorabillia. A must see for any history buffs. On the grounds is a picnic shelter. This property overlooks some of the city.
