Wonderful attention to detail as to how the Canadians lived in Victorian Times. This is one of the oldest limestone houses still standing in Peterborough and its interior is beautifully staged as it was in the 1840's.

My daughter & granddaughter took me there for lunch for my birthday and it was delightful. It is a very informative tour and would highly recommend for people interested in the early years of settlement in Ontario. Very authentic furnishings and costumed guides just add to the ambience.

The staff was really the best part they were so friendly and knowledgeable. The history of the house was really very neat and they had a lot of artifacts. The grounds themselves were very pretty as well with all the beautiful gardens outside.Overall it is a must see.

Once a month Hutchison House puts on a meal. My husband booked this for us, but forgot to ask, (though he thought he had0, if the meal was gluten-free as I am allergic to gluten. Chicken pot pie and apple pie was on the menu. So we did not stay to eat though there was a wood fire going and... More

Well, it's no roller coaster, and the demographic does skew towards grey hair, so kinda' slow and low key, but a really nice historic home, all the old this and ancient that of bygone yesterdays... the volunteers and employees really do know their stuff... and the nice kids who volunteer to serve scones and tea on the patio are cute... Historical site is quite small & crampt yet very historically interesting. Parking is limited but it has a central location. I think a voluntary charge is accepted.

Our grandchildren (11 yr/o boy and 13 y/o) girl were so enthralled with the museum and tea. School children served us. It was a hot day, but under the trees, it was "a breeze". I was so impressed with the knowledge exhibited and how the helpers (volunteers) kept our kids busy and active in learning.

This was an incredible look back into history. The tea & scones service was impeccable, served by young volunteers. The tour of the home was interesting and very well done. I would highly recommend the Hutchison house to both young and old alike.
