not the most picturesque the farther you get from Wellington and the closer to Gladstone. Other areas are better for me.

I have gained some personal confidence for exploring what is a complicated city for me by walking along this street back and forth from Wellington to Gladstone more than once... read more

First of all the pictures are not from bank street but from Sparks St. The marker on the map is way west of the Bank street. It is not a pedestrian street maybe only on Canada Day, but for the rest is a lot of car traffic on it. There are a lot of shops and restaurants in the down... More

A nice area to visit and lots to see. A brilliant city which should be the pride of Canada. Will visit again.

Yes there are some great stores along this strip but it is rundown, dirty and has a large number of street people. There is some nicely preserved architecture but too many false fronts that ruin the 'village' feel they have been trying to achieve since the 80s. Do go for destination shopping (music, games, comics) (Whalesbone restaurant almost makes it... More

Definitely many colourful people around. You never get bored people watching. I kinda cringe though if I have to walk the whole stretch after dark.

I visited Ottawa on Labour Day weekend and walked down Bank st on Sunday and most things were closed up and overall it wasn't a great feeling walking around. It looks like it was a great place to shop and eat at one time but it has definitely seen better days. With all the stuff to do in Ottawa, i... More

Walking around the area we saw many shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Quite a busy area of Ottawa. OK for walking, window shopping and people watching.

Most times of the year this area is well maintained. Many places to duck into for a quick coffee. This is "the Village" area offering much to the open mind. Just off on Flora Street is the very best vintage clothing shop in the city, Ragtime.
