The gardens are small, but a quaint park. Nestled right up to lake Ontario, you get great views. The flowers in the garden are wonderful right now. Parking was a bit tricky since the lot is small.

Sad to say I have lived in Oakville, but haven't been to Gairloch Gardens in years. I spent a lovely morning last week wandering and taking photos of fall leaves and the gardens. A very relaxing place that I will continue to visit regularly.

Love this place, beautiful rose garden, it has been flooded this year, still not 100% the same in July but still beautiful with 2 ponds now with blooming water lilies, duck families, nice to relax and enjoy the lake & beautiful flowers of all colors.

Small beautiful garden which is worth spending an hour in with beautiful view of the lake. Free parking but not a huge one. Nice small event place for small family gatherings.

There's not a lot to walk around and see, however I do often see swans by the lake, and when the flowers are in bloom it's definitely beautiful to walk through or sit there.

Beautifully laid out park and particularly in Spring and early autumn worth a visit. We go there quite often to enjoy the beauty of the flower beds, the rose garden and the peaceful quiet of the lakeshore.

This is a great set of gardens to explore and have a picnic by the lake. There is a small art gallery as well, and there are rose gardens and plenty of places to feed the ducks. Great bike destination with kids.

I come often to visit and take photos and love the new fountain features they added this year. Beautiful grounds, always well kept! Beautiful grounds to visit or get photos done at!

The Gairloch Estate was built in 1922 on Lake Ontario's shore, and featured a Tudor style house with hedges, trees and rose gardens. In 1971 the last owner bequeathed the estate to the town of Oakville as an Art Gallery for the display of art by contemporary artists and the remainder as a public park.
Tho small, the Gallery is always a good for an art display "pick-me-up" and several sculptures are placed throughout the park. The Gardens, though small, have a good selection of rose bush types, complemented by several other types of flowers, such as iris, and several unique blossom trees adorn the parkland.
The grounds include several ponds, with creek access to the lake. They are inhabited by a huge flock of Canada Geese which remains there year-round, instead of migrating, so tread cautiously and scrape your shoes before returning to your vehicle.
During the summer, several pairs of beautiful swans make their home on the lakeside, adding a regal touch to the view.

Are there picnic tables available? Do we have to reserve a spot beforehand to use them?

Hi, can anyone just visit this park for leisure? I plan to drive by one day and go for a stroll, can I do that or do I need to make an appointment?

Hi Is it possible to purchase a bench in memory of a loved one? She loved going to see the gardens
Written 2 February 2020
Hello, I have no idea, you would need to contact the owner of the gardens. You may try to look on City of Mississauga (Ontario, Canada) website and contact them for details.

Somehow, I seem to think they are intended to be walked vs. cycled. There are sections along the path where you can stop and enjoy a particular garden (eg. rose garden).

How long does it take to get the permit for Wedding photography? The office is closed on weekends and I was trying to set up an engagement shoot for Monday or Tuesday.
Written 13 August 2017
I am sorry. I don't know. That is a good question for the Town of Oakville as they issue the permits. What an exciting time this must be for you!
Written 14 August 2017
Can you take professional pictures here or do you need permission?
Written 28 October 2016
Professional photographers for weddings and special occasions require a city permit. Otherwise regular visitors can snap away at no charge.
